I feel like I'm flying through this process!
You can see my timeline in my signature below. So excited that I have my consultation with the surgeon on Monday! The doctor prepping me for surgery also wants a pre-surgery follow-up with me the same day. For those of you who have had surgery already, how long was it between your consultation and surgery? I know that I will have to do the pre-surgery class and meet with the dietitian again when my date is set. I'm wondering what to expect at this consultation? In case you are wondering, I'm having surgery in Ottawa.
GP Referral to OBN - Dec 1/15; Orientation - Feb 11/16; Intake meeting - Feb 17; Consultation w/ surgeon - Apr 18; Start OPTI - May 13; Pre-Admit w/ Anesthetist - May 16; Surgery - Jun 3/16!!!
As far as I've been told, I'm moving along at a quicker pace than normal. At orientation the nurse said the quickest she has ever seen someone go is 7 months from the time of orientation. My person tip is to make sure you are mentally ready for it all. You have to give it 110%. I implemented all suggestions they gave me as soon as they gave them to me. So far I have enjoyed the whole process!

Wow congratulations! I was referred in February to TWH and I have my orientation on Monday. I'm hoping it goes quickly as well. I plan to do everything they tell me too and. Just be very open to the whole process. I've been thinking about it for a long time so I definitely feel like I'm ready. Let us knei when you have a surgery date!
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!
I will definitely let you know once I get the surgery date. I'm hoping to get it when I meet with the surgeon on Monday. I'm just not sure what I expect at this consultation? I had also been thinking about the surgery for a long time (2 years) before I determined I was ready and went to my doctor. I needed to be in the right headspace for it. I couldn't be in a better place to tackle this mentally than I am right now! I only went to my doctor to talk about it and ask for the referral when it stopped feeling scary and I started feeling like it would be an adventure worth fighting for. I'm actually not scared at all now and totally looking forward to getting it all going and starting my new life. I know there are things I won't be able to eat (I have a rather sensitive digestive system) and although I will miss them, I will get over it. Bread used to be one of my favourite things but I had to cut out gluten over 3 years ago and haven't touched a bite of regular bread since! So I know I can do this. :)

Exciting that you will be meeting the surgeon on Wednesday. I can't wait to see how mine goes tomorrow! Hopefully I will get my surgery date soon. :) I do live in Ottawa, right in the city. I'm only about 15 minutes away from the Civic. I've gone through the process at the MBI clinic here except for the orientation session. I've enjoyed the process so far! If it wasn't for needed an updated endoscopy, I'd have probably met the surgeon a month earlier but timing is still good. 4.5 months and I meet the surgeon tomorrow! :)

That's helpful to know your timeline as well since you are also in Ottawa! Based on when you met the surgeon and your surgical date, it looks like I could maybe expect a date in July. Hopefully I will find out soon! Good lucky with your process.
