What are you eating/doing today? (Saturday)
Just posted a nice long post and this system ate it! So frustrating. Ok, so lets start again...
Happy Saturday everyone! Weighed myself for the first time in a month this morning and I lost 2 pounds so I am feeling pretty good as I was sure I had gained. Only 3 more pounds until "normal" bmi. Going to the spa for a therapeutic massage and pedicure today, should be fun. Might have a cookie there but rest of day will be on track.

I'm not feeling great today. I weighed myself and I'm up another pound. That's four pounds up from my lowest weight. I'm so tired every day and just absolutely lacking any kind of motivation. If I still feel this way next week I think I might try to see my family doc again. My mornings are all spot on for eating, but by the afternoon I just don't seem to be able to control my eating. Right now I don't even feel like leaving the house, but I know that would make it easier to keep my eating on track. I will make a plan, but I just feel like I won't stick with it.
Breakfast - peameal, yogurt
Snack - carrots, pb
Lunch - ham, ricotta pancake
Snack - egg, pickles, crackers
Snack - pudding, protein bar
Dinner - going out - maybe ribs
Snack - cheese
All water and vits
Hi Meg
Do I have this right that you are a little over a year post surgery?
I know you said you had labs recently - was it a full panel? Certain low vitamins and minerals can really make you feel off. Also contribute to feeling low mentally which of course contributes to eating poorly and the cycle begins again
Hope you see your doctor soon.
Also - I find the minute I take back control of my eating it gives me a major mental lift.
Take care of yourself
Yes, I'm just over a year out (March 5th). I had my labs done ahead of my 12 month appointment and everything was really good. The only weird value was that my zinc was a little high.
I started eating more while I was on vacation two weeks ago, and I haven't been successful at getting back to my normal plan. Now added to that I'm even more tired and seeing a gain on the scale. If I was feeling mentally good I think it would be much easier to get back on track eating-wise. It's not even junk food that I'm eating -- just grazing/snacking in the afternoon evening.
I'm thinking I might send an email to my family doc today and see if he wants me to come in...
Sorry to hear you are not feeling mentally strong, good idea to contact your doctor. Does your centre have anything helpful like a behaviourist? You are doing a really good thing for yourself by planning and posting your eating. I had similar complaints at my one year and they told me to take b12 every day to help with the energy level, so I take one every morning and I think it really does help. If you are feeling bored with your menus you might want to check out the low carb groceries in Ontario, they have lots of neat stuff that can help you feel motivated to stay on track. I have gained as much as 6 pounds at different times, and not lost for months on end so please do not let that get you down. You can do this!
I have a psychologist but she is on mat leave... I've been seeing a social worker in the mean time. I'm taking my supplements including a B12, but that hasn't changed since surgery. All my levels were good.
And I love the low carb groceries. I almost think too much selection is a downfall for me. I think about all the different things I could eat/try.
This is the first time since surgery I have gained weight. I worry that I'm at the end of the weight loss and now I will start the regain my surgeon said to expect. Even though I feel like I could lose 5-10 more pounds.
I hear you, I am afraid of the same at 19 months but I continue to lose, although much much more slowly than previously. At my 1 year they told me I would not get to normal bmi and just to start eating for maintenance. I decided to keep on working at it and I have lost another 14 pounds over 7 months. It is totally do-able if you stay motivated an focused. I weight every month now so I don't get discouraged about not losing every week, I find it helpful. It does get harder further out but I believe it is do-able if you take it one day at a time.
