Meeting the surgeon

Hi there!

I have an appointment to meet with the surgeon in a couple of weeks. I've already done the orientation and meetings with the nurse, social worker, and dietitian. Unfortunately, my support team could not make it to those appointments. Is it appropriate for someone to come with me when I meet with the surgeon?

Thanks!

I did things a little different and I met with the surgeon first, my husband was there, but honestly he didn't need to be. He didn't come with me to my other appointments.  No one ever mentioned it. He may be there when I see the surgeon again, but we can only do what we can. It just says it's recommended to bring someone, not mandatory. As long as you do have support, that's what counts.

Thanks. I just don't want them to think I don't have support, kwim? I guess we'll see if someone can get the time off work.

I've never taken support for any of the meetings. My surgery is May 6th.  My husband actually asked if he needed to be there.  I said yes, should I have some major complications you're kind of in control of what they do with me.  I'm not really the type that needs support, I am able to take notes for myself and remember to ask the questions I have. It won't hurt to have someone there, but you can totally do it on your own just the same.
