Still hungry day 9 of Optifast
I'm up for a revision on April 4 - VBG to RNY. Hungry and very tired today. How do you get through this? Ketosis seems to be alluding me.
Have you tried having broth or sugar free jello/popsicles? These help to keep you "full "
I have tried both. The first time I tried full salt broth and felt sick for hours. I just can't seem to get into ketosis. Not sure if it's because I've had VBG or not. Surgery isn't that far away, but it seems like years! LOL Thanks for replying!
Hi, so just wondering what the VBG is? I have the Sleeve, which is VSG, did you make a typo? or is there another surgery? I am thinking of having a revision done, I have to wait until my 1 year mark, which is July 20 to talk to the surgeon. How long has it been since your first surgery? Are you happy with the results?
As for the feeling hungry, it will go away, some take longer than others. Try drinking a lot more water, broth, sugar-free Jello. You will get through this. Yay!!!!

I had a vertical banded gastroplasty in the 90s. Pretty much a failure from the get go. I'm going for RNY. The Optifast diet is great, but I can't seem to get through the hunger. Although this afternoon was better than it has been.
Were you on Optifast before your surgery? How much did you lose?
No wonder, I have never heard of it!! Is it like the Band?? I am happy for you that you are finally getting a tool that will actually work, YAY!!! The hardest part is the Opti, feeling hungry, but you will make it. They say the first 5 days are the worst. I was supposed to be on Opti for a month, but I lasted 4 days, I became very ill. I have Cronic Diarrhea, so I am constantly in the bathroom, being on Opti made it a 100 times worse. Was going over 20 times a day, couldn't even keep water down. I am also lactose intolerant, I kept throwing up as well. Those were the worst days of my life. I became dehydrated, so the hospital I was going trough put me on a 900 calorie diet for the rest of the month. Which consisted mainly of protein. I lost 25lbs in the month. Since Surgery, July 20th 2015 I have lost 127lbs and 164 inches from head to toe. I am very proud of myself!!

Oh, that's so inspiring! My band is not adjustable. It's pretty much a ball of scar tissue now. I have 0 motility in what's left of my stomach. So I've been vomiting everyday for ten years. I just discovered, thanks to an astute NP that I'm lactose intolerant too. I'm very nervous about the revision. Scared of having a second bad experience. Hoping the RNY works for me. Did you exercise a lot to get where you are?
