Meeting with surgeon on April 1

I have the meeting with the surgeon at Toronto Western on April 1 (april fools day? really?) and I'm getting a bit nervous about some odds and ends I'm having trouble finding info on. For instance, I take Zoloft in capsule form once a day and am not sure how to take it after surgery (my family dr is looking into it but its been weeks and I haven't heard anything), should I open the capsule and put it in food? Does anyone have experience with this, or is this something the surgeon can answer?

Thanks :)

Talk to a pharmacists.  They probably know more about medicine and the forms they come in, or if you can open the capsules.

Indont have any insight to your question, but I also have my surgeon's appointment on April 1st at TWH! And I totally laughed and said "it's not a joke, right???" When they called to tell me! Haha

Haha! I have it written down on my calendar for 10am, which means its probably closer to 10:30  - trick myself into being on time  that way lol.

Hilarious! My appointment is at 3:30. I told work I was going to leave around 2 (I work downtown, it takes 1/2 hour to get there... but can never be too sure). Do you know if we'll get our surgery dates at this appointment, or after? I still can't wrap my head around the fact that this appointment means that surgery might be.....*soon*!

I think this is when we get our surgery dates, but not 100% sure. I was told to bring a credit card to pay for optifast. I've ordered a few sugar free syrups to use in optifast recipes and am trying to nail down vitamins and how to take my zoloft. I also got good measuring cups and spoons that are only for my use so they don't get lost and stress me out when I'm making my meals.

My husband and I have been re-organizing the kitchen in preparation and I batch cooked him a bunch of meals (like chicken breasts and meatloaf) and used a food saver machine to store them in the freezer for him.

I agree it's a bit surreal that surgery could be so close. I'm excited and nervous and scared all at the same time lol!

I'm only answering based on what they told us in our surgical education class, when the question was brought up , they said that they leave the hole big enough to take you Vitamins and pain medication and that they do no suggest opening up capsules and or crushing pills .. This isn't information coming from my surgeon , but from the nurses at my bariatric center ! Hope this helps !
