abdominal pain - 6 months post op

Good morning,

Abdominal pain.  Finding just drinking water is even uncomfortable.  There's just a discomfort there now that wasn't there 3 weeks ago.  When I went in for my 6 month checkup at TWH, they didn't renew my prevacid - maybe they should have?

Not sure if it's related, but lower back pain has kicked in.  I work out daily, but haven't done anything to put strain on that part of my body.  Weird.  Feel like I'm falling apart.

Other than that, doing great!  lol.

If anyone has helpful suggestions, or personal experience with the above - please share.  Thanks in advance :)

Going off a PPI cold turkey could be the cause.  You may want to buy yourself some Zantac 150 and take it and see if it helps and then slowly wean yourself off it.  Many that go off Prevacid without weaning end up with some issues about a week after.  Not sure if this is what happened to you or not.

I agree with Tracey!  I know my gf went off Prevacid and right after got an ulcer and now she is back on it.  You might want to try an OTC med but if it doesn't work call your clinic and see about getting your prevacid renewed.  They might also want to scope you!

Constipation is a common problem. I would have this checked out with your centre or doctor

Great to hear from you again Helna!!!  Its been a while.

Gas build up and or constipation can both cause these symptoms.  I agree, try another antacid and see if things improve if not back to the DR.

Sorry to hear you're in pain. Get in touch with your centre. I experienced similar symptoms; I was also very "hungry" all of a sudden, not sure if you are experiencing this as well. I toughed it out but knowing what I know now, I wish I had reached out and gotten an additional rx for Prevacid. You may need to go back on your PPI.

As for your back pain, this is also common. I had bad back pain around the 6 month mark as well. It can be your body adjusting. If you do not already do core work in your workouts, I recommend you start including it along with some gentle stretching as this can be a great help. Ditch the crunches.
