I'm having my surgery in a few days and have packed my bag.

What has anyone found to be useful? I have the following:

Toothbrush/paste

Housecoat & slippers

loose tank with baggy sweater

yoga pants

cell & book

ear plugs

My other question is how soon after surgery can you at least put shorts on?

Thanks :-)

I really appreciated having a mouth moistening spray (you can get it from the drugstore ). You can't drink very quickly post op and the hospital is very dry.

Depending on how you feel you could probably put shorts on the day after surgery. I never did, the robe covered me ok and I didn't want to bend.

Good luck! TWH is a great hospital.

Hello!

I took Purell Hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes (you can't keep too clean in hospitals!), lip moisturizer and kleenex.

I think you can wear shorts soon if they have an elastic waist and fit loose.

Wish you all the best on surgery day!

I'm also having my surgery at TWH and it's on Wednesday when is yours? Maybe we can meet up in the hallway to walk? ?

I've also packed vaseline for my lips, soap, shampoo,  in case we get the chance to shower. Also bought a novel and my brother is bringing me some word search books.

I wish you good luck with the surgery!

Hi there:

I have read on many threads that a sleep mask (to block out light) is helpful because it is quite bright in the hospital.

good luck with your surgery...mine is March 21 so coming up soon too!!!

Good luck.

It will be almost 1 year fro me and it seems like just yesterday that I had surger////although I am almost 100 pounds smaller!

I found that I liked wearing my very loose pjs and flip flops

hand/face cream

Robe-light one

magazines-my concentration was horrible so I couldn't read.

Cell phone

peppermint tea (helps go to the bathroom)

As soon as you are given the ok start walking, this really helped me a lot.  I would do laps around the floor visiting lol

Good luck

Lisa

I was at TWH 3 weeks ago. Believe me less is more.

The first day you'll probably be most comfortable in your hospital gown because of the intravenous.

I changed into my pajamas on the 2nd day and I wore the clothes that I wore to the hospital home( fresh sock + undies) . I did not take a robe. Here's what I used daily:

Slip on shoes/slippers

Lip Balm and hand moisturizer

Toothbrush/ paste ( I brought shampoo/conditioner but was told by the nurse to wait until I got home because the water pressure is terrible)

Small extension cord / phone / earplugs or headphones. If you are near the nurses station its quite loud.

Magazines that I read for all of 10 mins

You're too busy sipping and walking ( I walked every chance I got ) to do much else!

Wishing you well!
