Thoughts on Probiotics
I use Kombucha. It is a brewed tea which is then fermented. Sounds disgusting for me but it really does work for e. I am only a week out and on clear fluids. This fits that. It is however a little effervessant (bubbles like pop. but also like pop the fizz goes away if left sitting for a few minutes. I use Cathy's kombucha. She is out of Burlington. We found her at the ST. Jacobs Mennonite market. You can find her here.

I find it like a soda pop. It has a sweetness and a fizz. It is sold in bottles like wine bottles. I can't remember the price. I take only an oz or two a day so a bottle lasts awhile.
There are 15g cabs in 1 cup. You don't take it as a full cup only an oz or two a daym that works out to 1-2 g carbs a day.

i have dealt with major constipation (gaining up to 10 pounds from not going) for my whole 9 months since my surgery. I have tried everything and anything under the sun and nothing worked but taking 2-4 doess of milk of magnesia over the course of 24 hours. About a month ago a lady on facebook suggested i try a probiotic and I said i was willing to try anything. I take restorlax 1x a day in my shake in the morning and i open a capsule of refridgerated probiotics and for the first time in 9 months i am going daily if not sometimes twice a day. I swear by the probiotics for me it was the answer to my problems. good luck
How is Metamucil post RNY? What's the difference between that and restoralax?
Thanks for your help!
Metamucil and Restoralax are both fine to use post-surgery, depending on your needs. Metamucil is a fiber supplement that can help to prevent issues. You can use it every day.
Restoralax is an actual laxative. If you get to the point where you need a laxative, it is certainly fine to take but you do not want to get into the habit of using them regularly. There are lots of non-laxative helpers out there, including metamucil/fibre, stool softeners, probiotics, etc.
