Had My Surgery

Had my surgery on March 2, and I survived! I only cried 2 times (saying by to my mum and then when I was on the table, my surgeon Dr. Yelle was very comforting! My anesthesiologist, mean man!)

I was in the PACU for about 3 hrs, my lung apparently slightly collapsed so my oxygen levels were low, but I kept trying to rip the mask off for "real" air lol I did that in the OR as well before being put under.  First thing I did when I woke was ask what what surgery I had, found out it was the RNY and i passed out again. There was a chance I would get the sleeve because I am short and round but happy that didnt happen!

The pain was NOT as bad as i figured it would be, shockingly the most sore part of my body was my back, likely cause of my heavy breasts (and I dont tend to lye on my back directly) The gas made my Breast bone and rib cage hurt the most, and I havent felt any pain in my incision area at all, which is wonderful!

I was in hospital for 20 hours from the time I arrived in the PACU, and then sent on my way. Used the pain killers for about a day and that was plenty. I miss sleep tho :( I cant seem to sleep more then 4 hours at a time, hopefully that rights its self soon!

Only issue is the liquid Calcium makes me feel soooo gross, so i got the soft chews and it seems to be a little better, less burping, which hurts when I dont initiate it!

Had one mini breakdown and cried the other day, I guess a bit of my depression sneaking through, hopefully not to many more of them in the future, looking forward to seeing the scale move :)

Thanks for listening to my ramblings!

Isn't Dr. Yelle wonderful? He has such a calming manner about him. Glad to hear you came through with little pain...and got RNY instead of sleeve. The mini-breakdowns are normal. Before you know it, you'll be able to describe yourself as just short instead of short and round.

Get lots of rest and liquids, and of course, protein.

Welcome to the loser's bench, glad things are good for you! I noticed that your ticker has your 'goal' weight at 230. As a (former) super heavyweight myself, I can assure you that you can and will go much lower than that if you stick to the plan. I think I'm already considered a success, and I'm still losing. Drink up, rest when you can, and be well.

Referral - Feb 25th, 2014. Info Session - April 7th
Surgeon#1 - May 15th  Dr. Glazer - July 23rd, Dietitian/Social Worker/RN - Aug 1st, Surgeon #2 - Sept 10th, Surgery - Dec 16th, 2014!

Thanks for the kind words :-)

i have a beyond terrible thyroid so I just figured 230 would be fabulous! It's been the thorn in my side for a long time. Not sure how it will react since surgery only time will tell. Hopefully it won't be an issue! So when I get to the 230 I can reevaluate then and plan to :-) I would like to be about 200 maybe less if that's on store for me :-)

Thanks again :-)

Glad all went well. As we lose hormones are released from the fat where they were stored. This can lead to the crying. Try to keep moving and drinking.
