First Restaurant Meal 3.5 mths post op
Went out for dinner and local theatre the other night with some girlfriends. The restaurant they chose was Italian (cringe). I prepared myself to have a salad and some type of appitzer. Looking at the menu all pasta, if course and veal, which I don't eat. I spoke to the waitress and explained my situation and asked if I could have a creation of shrimp and scallops (from the pasta dishes) and vegetables from the veal dishes. The waitress was very obliging and asked about any sauces etc they need to avoid. The chef prepared me this beautiful plate with 3 large shrimp, 2 scalopps, and lots of steamed vegetables witha few roasted potatoes and a lemon reduction on the bottom of the plate.
Having this made me so grateful restaurants do care and are willing to go the mile.
That's so wonderful that the chef did that for you.
Pre-op I was allowed only low-starch vegetables (1 cup), sugar-free jell-o, and 1 cup of broth per day in addition to the Optifast. I went to a restaurant for a work lunch and decided to ask for a plate of lettuce, red peppers, and cucumbers. They arranged the vegetables all fancy and even sprinkled some parsley garnish around the outside of the vegetables to make it look pretty. It was so awesome to be treated like that.
