No Changes after RNY surgery

It quite sad that people talk or write just to get attention.   Seriously nobody would behave this just out of surgery.

If you can't comply to your post-op diet now, when will you be able to?  Better start lurking on the revision board now, so you'll be prepared.

You are looking for commiseration and approval for your actions that seem so contradictory to what many of us subscribe to. There's an interesting book called LIP SERVICE by Linda Frum where she discusses female friendships that aren't really friendly at all. Women who coddle each others' bad behaviour because it's easier than risking rejection after offering constructive support.  "Oh you look great in that dress" when they really mean "it's trashy -- what kind of attention is she looking for?". I think most here have taken the time to offer you constructive support.

You wanted to see "what if".  Hmmmm. The thought had just crossed my mind that - if you paid for this surgery directly out of your own pocket, would you have been so careless?? Think about it. What if you paid $20K?

I know that I treat things I get for "free" differently than those that I have spent my hard earned dollars on. My investment with RNY has been time (and yes that = $), 13 months in the programme pre-op and now 6 months post op of applying myself to all the guidelines set by highly educated professionals. After screwing myself up for 25+ years, I defer to their expertise. This doesn't mean I don't have questions for them, not everything in the programme is black or white.

Liken your body to driving a brand new car off the lot --- be ever so careful to avoid those scratches, dents or a major collision. Please don't underestimate how fragile your body is right now.

Few of us here (I think) are medical professionals, so I urge you to contact the TWH Bariatric team as soon as possible with your query and course of action. They will supply you with the scientific facts that should resonate.

Ignore all the haters. What do they know?  If you can tolerate meat loaf two days after an RNY, you must have an iron gut.

I think you should tackle celery and let everyone know what fools they are for doubting you.

I am 7 months out and to this date I still feel like nothing happened to me.  Food all agrees with me, no pain, etc.  I followed the plan as best as I could and had minced chicken a little earlier than I was supposed to but not 2 days out of surgery.  At that point I was lucky to be eating period.  It is very hard on your healing pouch.

I am sorry you aren't getting the sunshine and roses support that you thought you might but the one thing I have learned about this place is that it is far from that at times. If you ask the question and outright say you aren't following plan, people are going to comment.

You haven't really answered how much you have lost to date and if your doctors are aware of the testing you have done to your body because I can assure you that they would most likely not think that you are taking the plan or surgery seriously.

Lastly, I am pretty sure that this post is a troll so I am not sure why I am responding anyways :)

Hi McCall:

I have talked to my surgeon. While she was not happy I was eating solid foods, she said be very careful. My stomach is healing. Nothing I have eaten has caused any problems, but I am very cautious on what I eat and how much. To say I eat solids so soon is one thing, but a bite or two of different food stuffs has not hurt me at all. Of course food "backs up" if I eat too much, and I get hiccups, but I have not felt nauseous or been constipated, or suffer from diarrhea. My incisions are fine. My stomach feels fine. I definitely do not eat like I did before. I take all my vitamins. I drink lots of water. Love SF jello and SF Popsicles. All in all, I think I am doing great despite what others say. As for weight loss - I was 242 when I started the Optifast  process Jan first. Now I am 199. No complaints.
