No Changes after RNY surgery
Wow. People like you don't deserve this surgery. Too bad they didn't weed you out during the psych interviews so someone *****ally wanted to change their life could have had the surgery you obviously don't value.
just keep experimenting and eating and truly you really won't know you had this surgery.
I sure am a "hater" of this type of post.
I'm going to block you now because I just can't read this crap today
Thank you to "almost" everyone who posted a comment. I see there have been only 2 hater replies. Most were helpful. For someone to say I should gave been weeded out during the phych evaluation, this is not only incredibly rude, but also shows their mental intelligence, which I deem to be sub zero. We will save that topic for another time. Thank you for your condescending thoughts anyway, who ever you are.
A bit more about myself, for those who asked and truly would like to help: - My starting weight was 242. I was on Optifast for 2 weeks. During those 2 weeks I lost 22 lbs. As of this morning, I am already in "onederland" as some say, at 198. I have lost weight after surgery. I lose a bit every day. I probably take in less calories than most here, at less than 700 daily. I do exercise, I have my own gym in my rec room. I am still recovering from bilateral total knee arthroscopy, which is why I installed my gym, as I needed to relearn how to walk. With that being said, I say "kudos to me". I can now walk with minimal pain, and am getting excessive weight off my knees, just as ordered by my orthopedic surgeon.
If anyone else has any constructive comments, I welcome them. Again, haters, hate yourself, not me, and save your effort commenting. Maybe your time would be better spent exercising.
Good morning Sandra, I felt the same after my surgery and I considered myself very lucky to have very little pain, no issue with food and I went back to work 2 weeks after surgery ... I kept saying to my Mom I'm not sure that they did anything because I feel so good. I did however keep to TWH's plan of liquid, pureed and soft food just because I knew I needed to have the structure and routine to keep on track. I'm now experimenting with 'regular' food but don't want to fall into some old habits (I do love my peanut butter but have banned it from my house because I love it too much ...lol). I try to stay between 500-700 calories a day. My biggest failure prior to WLS was planning ... now I planning all my food and love my Fitness Pal app ... it keeps me honest. No hate from me but I would just caution falling into old habits ... but I'm so happy for you to be in 'onderland' and working hard at exercise. All the best, Cathy

Is your post real? I honestly can't tell if it is or isn't? I ask, because during your orientation and when you spoke with your surgeon before your RNY surgery, it was explained what would be done, and the possibilities of how you would feel after. If you did any research at all, you would have found MANY people (including me) felt like the surgery wasn't even done. That there was no pain when drinking liquids and following the plan. It was also specified what could happen and the reasoning for following the guided plan afterwards. It is so you do not damage yourself and wind up back in hospital. You ask how would you know if you did damage...you would know by the massive pain you would have by testing the waters. I worry that you tried it once (or admitted to the one time on here) and would continue. Your pouch is angry, healing and therefore numb. Your staples are brand new and not imbedded for months. Keep testing the waters and let us know how you feel when you're back in the hospital. Kudos!

Your bi arthro is just a knee scope to see what's going on, no major surgery is done during one. It's like a investigation surgery. There should be little to no pain with it, and all healing done quickly. I don't see how that has any bearing on eating solids 48 hrs after surgery.
This is for "Spenceymommy". FYI, my "bi-lateral arthro" WAS a major surgery. I was in hospital 8 days. I had both knee joints completely replaced. I had 42 staples in my left knee and 48 staples in my right knee. It was in no way, shape, or form a SCOPE. My knees no longer bent, due to severe arthritis. I did need to learn to re-walk. Recovery was 24 weeks of physio therapy AND a full year for internal healing. NO PAIN, MY ASS!!!!! You have never felt pain like there is in bilateral knee surgery? WLS was a day at the beach compared to total knee replacement surgery. I don't know why I care what you say. I guess it is just because your stupidity ****** me off, along with the fact you appear to be a " know it all". You are right though - the knee surgery has no bearing on eating solids at 48 hours post WLS surgery. If you were following the thread properly, the reason I got the WLS was to get access weight off my repaired knees, which is also why I installed a gym in my rec. room - to exercise my new knees, and then progress to additional exercises after the WLS. Pay better attention next time you want to post something mean. Thanks!

Before you go calling people names, read what you wrote. Bi-lateral knee arthroscopy, which is a scope. If you had knee replacement then it was a bi-lateral knee arthroplasty. They are not one in the same and you called it the wrong name yourself.
Sorry. I just have to come back to your comment above that I JUST noticed. "Maybe your time would be better spent exercising." ???? Are you serious? How on earth do you know who is exercising and who isn't that has taken the time to reply to you to get your head on straight and tell you to stop what you are doing before you hurt yourself? In the original post you said you take in 500-600 calories a day, now it's 700. I was still at 400 calories at your stage. Your starting weight is exactly mine and I was also in onderland quickly. But I still followed the rules. Because I trusted Dr. Aarts and her team. I trusted that they would have the knowledge (you know, from years of schooling, followed by years of practice) that if you do what you're doing...you're setting yourself up for failure...plain and simple.
Just finished my second spin class of the day for my Ironman training. I'll go on with my day now.
