How do you re-motivate yourself?

in early January of this year I had my second information session and they advised that we should start taking the steps to build the habits of a healthier lifestyle. I took the bull by the horns and I did very well...up until Super Bowl Sunday. I had a party and overate and snacked on really bad things. Since then I feel like I've lost control and lost my motivation. Any lifers out there that have any tips on staying motivated? I'm not even motivate to track what I eat, which I did daily for about a month.
Talk to your centre about counseling. Find out why you are not motivated. What is food doing for you. Now is a really good time to work on your eating issues. There will be no magic after the surgery to keep you on track long term. It will have to come from you.
You will have a honeymoon stage where the rapid weight loss will seem great but if the motivation to work on the program is not there you will not succeed and keep the weight off. You have to really want this.
Good luck with your journey
Couldn't agree more with Pat. For those who think this surgery will fix your brain and your impulses.....it won't !!! The surgery route is not easy, and its by no means magical. Its hard work....everyday...no excuses.... its ALL YOU... its either making the necessary changes and succeeding or doing the same things you've always done and failing.
Start back with the tracking of your food...EVERYDAY NO EXCEPTIONS......AND ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE "BAD" !!!!!. It makes you face and account for every bite you take ( REALLY IMPORTANT!!) It will help you understand why you eat , what foods you tend to choose, when you eat, what emotions cause eating, what patterns and habits you've acquired over the years. You cant change what you don't acknowledge as they say. Get drinking water, and lots of it if you aren't already.
As for motivation.....we all have our own. Whether its purely health related, vanity, fear what will become of you if you keep gaining weight, fear of not being around for your family ???????? Everyone has different reasons. Write a list or a letter to yourself. Tell yourself why losing this weight is important to YOU. List all the things that you WANT and that you feel you would gain from being successful in this journey. Also tell yourself why this time, failure isn't an option. Write out your plan for when you feel like you are getting off track, if you slip how to pick yourself back up. How to accept 1 bad eating day---but not let it become 2 or 3 or 4. The reality is we all have those moments of "falling off the wagon", but its being aware and prepared for how to handle it, that makes all the difference.
Again, that actual writing down of information is SOOO important. It gives you something to look back on when you aren't feeling so inspired or doubting yourself. Start now to gather a serious support team. OH, friends, Dr's, counsellors, support groups, any and all that will assist you along the way.
This journey has a HUGE mental component. Its hard to believe in yourself sometimes and to truly believe you are worth it. But you are, and when you are in the right mindset....there is nothing you cannot do!!!

I've seen a few people on these forums have some success with Overeaters Anonymous.
Also, I saw one lady had success by attending regular Weigh****chers group meetings. I don't know if you have to be in the program for those, though.
