Nitethyme I really like Dr Okrainec but he was unavailable for my doctors meeting. Does he come to see you before surgery? I am happy to hear that you have had a fairly easy time. Good luck to you in months to come. How long did you stay in the hospital?

I did not meet Dr. Okrainec at my surgeon's/doctor's meeting, I actually met the resident.  The day of the surgery he came and talked to me about what was going to happen, etc and would also let my Mom know when the surgery was over and how things went ... which he did, the day after my surgery he followed up with me to see how I was doing and that was it.  I went in on December 18th @ noon and was out by 1pm on December 20th. My surgery lasted about 2.5 hours. The staff were exceptional! My advise to you is when you are in the hospital, walk walk, sip sip and make music :) ... that's pretty much the standard advise I was given from everyone here on the forum! When I got home I was pretty tired as I had done a lot of walking that day. Every day after I tried to walk the halls of my condo every couple of hours even if it was only for 5 minutes... I think this helps you with your healing and your stamina. I wish you all the best ... Nitethyme (aka Cathy)

Hi thank you for the info. All of it is making me feel better...hate the unknown. I think I met with his resident also...tall. dark hair and handsome. I know everyone's journey is different but i think that is the the best advise...walk, walk, sip, sip and make music...and i will follow that advise.

Looking forward to my last day of Optifast! Hope to chat with you again soon!

Have my appointment with him in April!  He seems quite impressive judging by his education and position.  And I've only read good things, that's comforting.

Everything went well. I only met him for a brief moment before surgery and never got to see him post op. I'm 11 days post op and have had no complications to date. My incisions are very small so he did a great job! Good luck with your surgery.
