I'm almost 10 weeks post op and finally finished the box of Jamieson B12 dissolvable strips, can't say I enjoyed them much . I want to buy a pill form now, but wonder what are the best brands/deals. Can we take the timed release tablets? What dosage should one pill be? Just looking for some advice. Just as a side note - I take the Life brand or Rexall brand once daily multivitamins formula for women 50+ (which I'm not - lol) for my multivitamin supplements and Citracal calcium citrate + D for my calcium and vitamin D supplements as per a handout sheet from TWH. Thanks.

Jamieson makes sublingual tablets.  They are 1000 mcg so you would take one every other day since the RDA is 350 mcg daily.  Doesn't matter which brand you buy as long as it's sublingual.

I buy the sublingual tablets at Costco-I am pretty sure they are Kirkland and they taste quite nice and are very reasonable!  It is a white and pink bottle.  I also buy the Kirkland prenatal multi vitamin there -I find they have the highest iron and are also very inexpensive!!  They have Kirkland Calcium Citrate but the pills are quite big so you will need to cut in half until you are further out.

Stay away from time release. B12 1000mcg 3xweek. Calcium citrate 1500 mg per day - 500-600mg 3xday.

2 mvi per day. As you go forward and look at iron suppliments take heme iron such as proferrin which we absorb. I tried d drop but did not work for me. My levels are better with tablets. The dietitian at Western will let you know.

Just a wee tidbit
Timed release B12 isn't effective...That's why your urine is so yellow..
I haven't had surgery yet but I do have low B12 and my md told me the only oral B12 to use is methylcobalamin.

As another tidbit - I have never taken B12.  I know most centers indicate that it should be taken - and I have my labs tested every year.  I have never been low hence its not one of my vitamins

Kinda scares me as I know most are on a regimen.  I can only assume I don't need it due to my daily high protein diet.

I have been taking them for 3 years... the first and second year every second day - at my two year appt it was high so cut it back to every third or fourth day.. at my 3 year it was even higher.. now take them about once every week and a half.
