Crockpot - I'm beginning to think it's just a crock!

This showed up on my FB feed this morning and I bet this recipe would work fine in a slow cooker since it uses thighs instead of breast.  I'm going to make it in my oven with the slow cook option since I gave my slow cooker away.  LOL

Report back! If things continue going the same direction for me -- I'd give you my crock pot -- but google maps can't find the location you list as your hometown....haha!

I'm throwing it in the oven this afternoon.  Have never used the slow cook option on my oven since it's new but it has high and low just like a slow cooker so I'm going on high slow cook for the 4 hours.  Will let you know how that turns out.  The manual says it replaces a slow cooker.  I'll likely doctor it up(like chipolte in adobo sauce sounds like a good addition) with more spices since I can't handle following recipes to a T and I prefer spicy to wimpy.  Won't be eating it on rice either that is for sure.

Bumfuknowhere is right near Timmins Ontario on Google maps :)

Ahh - close to Schitt's Creek, lovely part of the province! I live at the center of the universe from Oct to May -- and then Haliburton for the warmer months.

Oh way up north to Haliburton.  LOL  Okay my version of that recipe is in the oven.  Decided on jalapeno peppers instead of the chipolte in adobo and added a whole head of garlic instead of 1 clove(1 always makes me laugh), added in some smoked paprika, chili peppers and will fini**** off with fresh lime juice and fresh cilantro when it's done.  Pics to follow with my take on the taste of my version of slow cooker. Going to cook some edamame to eat with it.

I find with crockpots - especially lean meats - you need to use more seasoning than the recipe calls for.  When it cooks all day, the seasonings seems to break down and almost disappear.

The best recipes are soups/stews/chilis/sauces that do best when cooked low and slow.

I'm single - so just cook for me.  And I too have a wasteland of lord knows what in my freezer.  I only use the crock for chili, pulled pork and beef stew at this point.  Other than that - it goes in the oven.  Just easier.  I make enough for dinner that night, and lunch the next day.  Means more cooking, but I don't mind really :)

Me too! I have a home office right beside my kitchen so stove top in a big pot is my usual route for soups/stews. Just heard people rave about slow cookers and how tender it makes meat  --- tender cardboard!

lol - chicken especially!  just no.  for a cheap piece of beef it's good though.  but I don't eat a lot of red meat so there's that.  lol.  My fav tool is the Vegitti thing - spiral all sorts of veg.  Hope you're doing well otherwise :)
