calcium options?
I just can't stand the liquids. And have had trouble with pills since before surgery but it seems to be worse now. Any recommendations for chewable calcium?
also, can the citrate be mixed with other forms of calcium? I appreciate any advice you guys can offer. I just can't choke down the liquid anymore.
I know many people just throw the liquid into other drinks. I have some as well that I use once in a while.
Bariatric Advantage makes yummy chews ....but they are pricey about $15 for 60 250mg each so 5 per day. These are nice for a treat, kinda funny when your calcium becomes an exciting treat !! Lol
I have been using 500mg chewable calcium citrate tablets that another member suggested on this site (Jamp Calci-03 NPN 80003262) it also has 400IU vit. D---- 60/13.99. I have the pharmacy order them in for me ......taste isn't great, like a chalky tums.....but I have gotten used to them. So I take 2 tablets and 1 chew to make my 1200mg ( technically 1250mg).
I was told that you should only be taking citrate not the blended calcium products.
I buy calcium citrate (the big tabs) and just chew 'em because they're still hard for me to swallow. They're a *****alky but they don't really taste like anything. A few chews and then I take a sip of water. I hate the liquid calcium too.
This is what I do too :-) It's the easiest and essential for health, so no biggie :-)

this chewable calcium citrate can be ordered at any pharmacy it costs approx $10-12 for 60 chewables. Either bring this picture into your pharmacist or take the NPN # off the bottle and ask them to order it for you. I usually get them to order 3-4 at a time. They are a little chalky tasting but i take them with the life brand chewable vitamin D3 and its not as bad after.
Thank you. I'll have to check with a pharmacy here. Which pharmacy do you use ?
I use the no frills pharmacy but all my bariatric friends locally use other pharmacies and have had zero issues getting the pharmacist to order it for them. Just bring the picture in or the NPN # and ask them to order it.
