So they are still saying 1 cup roughly per meal but just want less protein.  Personally I'd go with the 1 cup total and put whatever you want in that cup especially if the white carbs bother you.  I can't eat the carby stuff or I get really bloated but of course we are all different.  Curious as to what they say to eat for snacks, is it still 2 oz of protein for snacks or they don't define the snacks as much as they do the meals?  Funny how all centres are so different in their recommendations.

for snack it's either 1oz of protein and 1/4 cup fruit, 2 crackers and 1 tbsp pb, 1/2 cup milk, 1 cheese stick etc..

Regular meal volume guidelines seem to range between 3/4 to 1 cup.  Snacks are equally defined.  Snack examples would be 1.5 oz of low fat cheese, or 1/2 cup 1% milk, or 1/2 cup low fat no sugar yogurt.  Another snack example given is 1.5 oz string cheese AND 1/2 soft fruit or 1/2 cup V8. Snacks seem to be slightly less in volume.

I have had a number of PMs asking for a copy of the guidelines for maintenance.  I will send them tomorrow.  Tired and ready for bed now.

Barb I will give their advice a trial and see how it works for me.  In the 2+ years that I have been on the forum, I have seen that everyone is different, and we all have to find our own way, but I have also read many advising to follow your surgeon's plan (especially when people get off track).  So I will follow my surgeon's plan for now, lol, and evaluate how my body reacts to it given the exercise that I do.

Dr. Agarwal today gave me the go ahead to lose a maximum of another 10 pounds, but he wants it done very slowly.  I see him again in 6 months and he will determine based on my examination and bloodwork if he will allow more.  It's really strange to be asking permission from your internist to be allowed to lose more weight.  He said that he did't want to disagree with the clinic because they work together and it's important that the patients don't get different advice from team members.   I explained about getting a consult for a knee replacement next month, and he definitely tried to talk me out of that surgery.  He said that is a last resort when you can no longer stand the pain.  More to think about.

My centre did not tell me any of that except they told me I don't need to lose any more weight.  Told me to up my calories to 1200-1400 and carbs to 90 per day by eating more nuts and lower carb fruit.  They did not mention anything about my pouch stretching or anything like that.  It's so frustrating that each centre has different instructions, makes you wonder who to listen to.  I agree with what others are saying, we all need to find what works for us as individuals.

It's certainly given me a lot to think about Zizzler.  I'm usually willing to try something for a little while and see how it works.  I had not read the Guelph booklet that was handed out at orientation in a while, so it surprised me when she was telling me this.  I don't want to stretch my pouch, and I do want to keep my pouch restriction.  Now we will have to see if this amount satisfies me and keeps me fueled for the day.  Also, the issue of eating 6 times a day, exercising, and not drinking until 30 minutes after.  It certainly is a time juggling act.  I usually drink while exercising.  I steadfastly refused to give up the number of decafs I drink a day.  Not going to happen.

I was given the no no finger as well by the dietician when it came to eating more than 3oz of protein too. I was told 2oz protein, 1/3 cup veg, 1/4-1/2 rice/pasta/potato.

Thanks so much for responding Nia.  I know you are really busy right now, so that was appreciated.  Glad to know she didn't single me out for a reprimand, lol.  I guess you and I are just a bunch of bad girls for eating more than 2 oz of protein.  Oh yeah, that's us, we're so bad.  RFLMAO
