Hi Sunny

I would ditch the mixed nuts.  Its very difficult to each a small amount of nuts on their own.  3/4 of a cup of mixed nuts is over 500 calories.  Personally I could eat more then this.  They are sneaky little morsels of deliciousness.

500 calories buys you a lot of dense chicken - steak or fish would satiate more.

Its tough - because its so much easier and tastier to eat the nuts - however they aren't going to help your current situation.

Good luck with it.  When I go low on calories/carbs I am just plain hungry.  It certainly helps to stick to solid chicken etc - fills me quicker and lasts longer.  But generally I am hungry the first few days until I adjust to lower caloric consumption

Thank you for the reply!

I have ate these nuts every day since I could eat nuts! lol I will have to let them go. The timing is good because I am almost out of them.

So I do have hope...I knew I did I just need to ditch some habits that got me into this place.

Your guidance is much appreciated!

Jo

Good day everyone.  Birdiegirl sorry to hear about your insomnia problems, that's rough. Can we take z-quil post op? I saw an ad the other day it's a sleep aid otc. Sunny I love Armstrong cheese, have you tried the jalapeño sticks?  Really good.

It is -28 with the windchill here this morning so I am wearing long thermal underwear top and bottom, double mitts and hat. Haven't had to do that ever, its funny to put on layers when I have been so focused on losing layers on my body. Feels funny but warm!

Plan to hit the gym tonight, I hybernated last night I was so cold.

Good morning everyone.  Yesterday I went to my Centre (Guelph) for my followup.  I was told to stop losing weight, that it would be unhealthy to keep losing and that I have a lot of muscle, so don't focus on a number.  I told them I wanted to lose a little more because I am afraid of bounce back and if I get my knee replaced, I will be unable to exercise for a while and don't want to start putting weight on.  They told me that I should think about a maximum 7 pound buffer for bounce back.  Not sure how I feel about this.  Today I am back in Guelph to see Dr. Agarwal, I will ask his opinion.

Guelph also told me never to eat more than 2 oz of protein in one meal.  They gave me copies of the guidelines.  I was told that this was for the maintenance phase.  I had been eating 3 and sometimes 4 oz of protein in a meal, so I will have to reread the maintenance diet and replan my meals, sigh.  They said eating more can stretch your pouch.  Also I was told to stop drinking so quickly, your pouch CAN get stretched by drinking too much too fast, and even though it is a funnel this definitely happens.  They want me eating 3 small meals and 3 small snacks a day for maintenance.  They said the goal is to maintain my pouch restriction.  Told not to follow serving sizes on packages, those are arbitrary and are not appropriate for WLS people.  They said I should only follow their guideline numbers.  A lot to think about.  I have been doing it wrong.

Today I will be swimming and then back in Guelph for appointments.  I haven't listed my food because I'm still figuring it out.  Right now drinking my coffee SLOWWWWWWWLY.

What you have been doing can't be all bad if you were losing on it. Try to take what they say and work it into what works for you. As they say they are guidelines
