Good morning everyone.  Blah - Monday.  I did not sleep well last night, nightmares about the things I fear, really silly ones but what can you do?  Finally gave up and got up an hour before I need to, which kinda sucks. I did my longest hot yoga class ever yesterday - 1.5 hours!  It was lovely, like stretching out in a sauna.  So nice when it's cold outside.

Plan to make muffins out of flax and eggs.  I saw this recipe from "buff dudes" called "buffins" (I know funny eh?!) where they place a few blueberries into the top of the muffins, I liked the way they looked, very appetizing.

17 months post op

B - gnc protein shake, cocolate with decaf coffee crystals added, later...decaf coffee

s - quest bar capper pie flavour...sf orange koolaid

l - leftover frizzled cabbage with cottage cheese, tomato sauce, and Parmesan cheese

S - red bell pepper

d - same as lunch with a little crispy bacon on top

S - sf hot chocolate, later...possibly a "buffin"

all water and vits

Have a good day everyone :0)

Hi Birdiegirl,

You may not remember me, I had my surgery two years ago.

Everything went well.  Then things got out of hand!

I am dealing with a 30 lb gain and I have to stop it.  So I will be back to the place that was so supportive during my wait, surgery and recovery. I can say I am ashamed, yes I am. Am I surprised, not really.  I know what I need to do - did it for while and the I did not do it. This surgery is NOT a cure all - it's a damn good tool to get you to a place when you can start.

So long story short I am here to smarten the heck up - recharging the fitbit, and doing a big healthy shop tonight.  Will figure out my intake on Myfitnesspal and post soon...

p.s. any idea on what my targets should be 2 years + post op? Any help is greatly appreciated!

 My menu

breakfast 1 egg two pieces of back bacon

snack unsalted mixed nuts

lunch Greek burger patty only tzaiki two cheese sticks

snack 2 Yoplait 0% vanilla and chocolate

supper mccormicks creamy curried chicken carrots

cal 1271 carb 38 protein 115 fat 72

Welcome back Sunny. The calories you eat will depend on your age and how active you are. If like me you have a job where you sit a lot you might consider going low like Barb has. I maintain at about 1200. I need to go lower than that to lose. I would suggest contacting your centre and asking for an appointment with your dietitian

Great suggestion Pam, nice to see you again!

Yes I sit all day, and I am 51.

I was blaming the gain on the hormone replacement therapy but then I took a step back and realized...uh-uh...

Thanks for your reply!

Of Course I remember you!  Good to see you back.  I can tell you from my perspective that staying on OH and planning my meals stopped my regain and back on the road to control

Dense protein - and lots of it the first few days to get the carb cravings out of your system.  Don't worry how many proteins you eat the first few days to get you thru.  Then - I aim for low carb - 30 - 80 depending on whether I want to lose a few or maintain - and 80 - 100 grams of protein each and every day.  I don't worry about fat and find it flavors my food and keeps me satiated.

Look up Atkins advantage and maybe try that for a week or so to get you back on the straight and narrow.

Its tough - but do-able.

Welcome back

Thanks!

I find I am more accountable in a team like environment - sharing what I am doing works for me.

Yes it is going to be the carb withdrawal that will be killer. However, it has to be done.

I love the Kirkland unsalted premium nuts - FitnessPal just told me it's too much fat but Ill need that in the next couple of days!

Thank you for not  reprimanding me - I feel crappy enough lol.

I would never reprimand you!  In some ways, it just get tougher and tougher the farther out you go.  In other ways it gets easier if you get into a rhythm and eat the same types of foods daily - meaning different types of dense protein and veggies.  Watch the fruit as it can set you up for sugar cravings.

What I don't understand are new post ops messing up their one and only big opportunity. I may say something there to hopefully smarten them up.  Don't care if they don't like me - just hope they think on what I have said.   However, I know how tough it is when you are a few years out.

People don't understand a lot of the warnings vets provide as they can lose the first two years or so eating off plan.  Unfortunately it catches up with people and they either get back to basics or let it all go to pot.  Glad you caught yourself and realized its "what we eat"!  Not the amount of exercise you can or cannot do - just what we shove in our gobs.

Again - glad to see you back.

Hey Sunny, welcome back! I remember you, we had the same surgeon! I am now 17 months post op and "the magic" is nearly over, reality is setting in.  You are doing the right thing by acknowledging what is happening and taking steps to change the situation.  As others have mentioned, contacting our centre would be helpful, they want you to succeed and I am sure would be supportive. I look forward to reading your posts and seeing your cute puppy avatar!
