So sorry to hear what you went through. It must have been horrific. Take care of yourself and it wouldnt hurt to let your surgeon from 10 years ago be aware. Its not enough to know that this surgeon consulted your previous surgeon. Do you think us newbies have less chance of this happening in ten years from now?
You sound like you have recovered well. Hoping this fix brings you lasting success.
Referral - Feb/14, Orientation HRRH - September/14, Surgeon appt. & gastroscopy Dr. Hagen - October/14, Trio appts. - April/15, Dr. Glazer - April/15, Revision RNY - July 10, 2015
Yes, I think the more recent post-ops are not at risk for this. They have changed the way they do things - you are not at risk. Nor are any of the recent post-ops.
Dr. Hagen, who did my surgery 10 years ago, is aware - my on-call general surgeon at Credit Valley that night consulted with him at the time, thankfully.
Thank you for your well wishes. :)

Karen I am so glad they were able to find out what was going on. I thank the doctor that saw you in ER for saving you. You are too much of a treasure to lose.

I had a similar issue in summer of 2014. My bowel got caught in one of the defects caused by the internal laparoscopic surgery from my RNY. LUckily, I knew right away there was an issue...doubled over in pain. Ende up at the ER where I had my surgery, and my bariatric surgeon who did my original surgery diagnosed it right away. Within 12 hours I had the surgery to fix it. It was bad. I spent a week in the hospital recovering. It was very scary. And just to let you know, my RNY surgery was in Augusr 2012! My surgeon told me that indeed it was a problem with the surgical technique which had since been revised. But people should be aware that those who had the surgery in 2012 into 2013 might face this issue. When it happened to me, I did post on this forum. Just goes to show that you should always listen to your body and not ignore symptoms when they present!
Glad you're better Karen! I was lucky as they got it early enough that no resection was necessary!

Honestly, that's frightening to me - I was told they no longer leave the mesentery open. Thank god you're okay, D. xoxo

Sorry to hear you had to go through this but I am glad you are all better. I wondered why you weren't around on the forum during December. Thanks for sharing...you always have worthwhile things to say. And things to make us smile..."frankenguts"...how do you come up with these?
