It is happening   Feb 17th is my date, St Joe Hamilton , I can't believe it!!  Went to the pharmacy to pick up everything (thanks God for drug coverage) I'm excited, scared lots of emotions.

I'm a list maker   so my question is what to buy before surgery? What is handy to have at home for the first 2 weeks?

I know about vitamins protein shakes, sugar free jello, greek yogurt etc but what elese?

I'm reading, watching youtube and getting confused too much information

So maybe make a LIST OF ESSENTIALS

You already have a bit of what you'll need. Add some cream canned soups you can strain, cottage cheese if you like it, diet drinks or drink crystals, not carbonated of course :), and small utensils and cups. Measuring spoons will also be helpful. The hospital may give you some 30ml drink cups that will be helpful at first. Most of all though, have someone for support so you're not alone :)

Congrats on getting your date !!!

The book they gave you pretty much tells you what you need to know.....i think you have the food thing covered .

I would get a few different forms of " constipation relief ". It was the only real problem I had so far ( knock wood) .....and trust me...you don't want THAT PROBLEM.  The softeners they suggested did nothing for me .  Took me months to figure out "a system" that worked for me, but everyone is different.  I read some people can slso struggle with diarrhea.  ( I would have rather had that ..lol)

Make sure that everything you eat has protein powder in it. Protein helps heal. Good luck and remember to walk and sip in the hos[ital

You may want to have some Tylenol -- I was given a scrip for morphine, never used it.

If you don't already have -- you may want to pick up a cook book or two aimed at WLS patients... https://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/home/search/?keywords=weight%20loss%20surgery

There is a pdf of Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies being shared around - send me a pm w/ your email if you would like to see it.

Premier Protein Shakes (Choc) were on sale at Costco last week $25 for 18. Hopefully the sale is still on. These are highly rated and an excellent price to stock up -- I bought 4 cases. This would take you past 2 weeks - but still good to take advantage now as they aren't on sale all the time. They have a long expiry date. Don't buy them on Amazon - pricing is horrific!

Someone else said to have some one to help you. Depending on the type of person you are, you may not need anyone past the first night home. I had that -- plus got neighbours to come with me on brief walks because I was light headed.

Don't forget to take earplugs to the hosp -- good luck!
