Transferring clinics

They haven't changed their messaging at orientation but yes. I have chatted with many HR folks and that's what time lines they are experiencing and the hospital move in October only made it worse. So unless they start booking more surgeries to address the backlog it doesn't look good.

I had my orientation August 15 and they said I may get a call to see the internist in April. Then spend the summer doing the Trio and if all goes well surgery in Late fall.

thank you so much for this information! I just called and left a message at Guelph. best wishes to both of us that we are able to transfer and shorten our timeline! my orientation at Humber was August 10, 2015  - only 13 months after my referral - it uh, went missing apparently....

anyway I already waited 1.5 years so far and have only had orientation (August 2015)!

Awesome Laura maybe we will end up in orientation together

Just so you know you have to call Humber and speak to booking and tell them you eant to transfer. You will have to give them a reason and they update your status on the portal to do the transfer. Guelph then said give them a few days then call them to ensure that they received it. If not you will have to hound Humber again.

Good luck keep in touch!

I also transferred from Humber to Guelph mostly because I only live 25 minutes from Guelph. I didn't know things moved faster at Guelph but I'm glad I transferred. Guelph is great!

It didn't take long but they did mess up things a bit which did delay it all. CALL CALL CALL :)

Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come.

I'm so glad I called Guelph. I've never been good at advocating for myself as I suffer from low self esteem as many others on here due to my weight. A small victory was won for me today!

I first called Humber just to check on my status and was told no calls to even book appts now until February/March?? Orientation was 13 months late already in August 2015, so you can imagine how I felt hearing that? It's 1.5+ years now since referral and still no appts booked?

I was so upset when I called Guelph and explained my situation. The 13 months just for orientation, HRRH losing my file, now this extra wait just to book appts. Well, Lori the nurse was so incredibly nice. She told me I could go their orientation in February and start booking my appts right away! Like, the next day! I asked if it's likely I'd have surgery before August and she said absolutely! I started to cry on the phone. She told me to get a few things done now so there's less to do in the 'queue', like fax my sleep study results now, plus do an updated blood panel and fax that to them too. That way there's less to do during the appts phase.

Fingers crossed this works out well for me. It's worth the 1.5 hour drive(one way) to Guelph! I will meet Lori and give her a big hug! Now I gotta make HRRH behaves and transfers my file properly!

I am so grateful for a light at the end of the tunnel!!

I hope sharing my story helps others ??

Cheers,

Laura

that's great Laura! Congrats! And yes Lori is wonderful! I really like all the staff there. There was one social worker that I didn't care for at first but then ended up liking her too. I am amazed that the timeline is so short at Guelph now. It used to take longer then 6 months but that's great. You will love it there! Just do what they say and be honest and it will all go well.

Hi , well I don't know about transferring but I can definitely agree that wait time at Humber is long. I went for orientation Feb 2015 . Have gone to all the appointments. A lot of phone calling to Humber. Always get voicemail, don't usually get call back. I can understand they must be extremely busy but at the same time little frustrating. When I called the surgeons office Dr. Klein I was told they received email from Humber to say I wasn't approved for surgery yet each appointment I was told they approved and/or would pass me. I left couple messages last week at Humber no response yet. I tried calling today and it says number isn't assigned!

Sorry one last thing. Does anyone know if the Humber office has to approve you before getting or asking for a transfer?
