Hi folks.

I got my referral started in June 2015, and I have my Orientation on Jan 11th in Ottawa. I am curious if anyone knows the wait times for either doing the shakes, or doing surgery?

Thanks.

It's different for everyone, not just depending on what extra appointments you may need to have, but also just on the timing of appointments and vacations etc. I know one person who just got through (from orientation to surgery) in about 8 months but I am tracking about 12 - 14 months from the orientation.  I was referred in January 2015, had my orientation in April and I'm waiting now for the surgery class (which is one step prior to meeting with the surgeon and getting my shakes).  I won't get this appointment though until I get an upper GI scope done and lord knows how much time this will take for the test and results to get back to the OWMC team.  Your timing will depend on whether you need extra tests (ie., scopes, sleep test etc) and how backed up they are.  I read a couple of days ago that one of the surgeons in Ottawa is booked up past April now suggesting they are pretty backlogged.

Referral (OWMC): January 12, 2015; Orientation: April 20, 2015; Intake Nurse: Jul 8, 2015; Beh/Nut: Oct 20, 2015. Beh2: Nov 23, 2015; Nut2: Dec 15, 2015; Pre-Sx Class: January 22, 2016; Surgeon Appt: February 8, 2016; Surgery: March 9, 2016.

Wow :

thats absolutely crazy. Some thing is seriously wrong you've gone from June and have orientation in Jan

i did my entire program and surgery in 8 months

it may take you 2 yrs to get through the program at this pace.

Hope it goes better for you.

The length in delay is just nut. Don't know what that reason may be ?????

Ok thanks folks. Makes sense, the more testing needed the longer it will take. Lets home I don't need to wait 2 years.
