Meet the Surgeon
I am 3 weeks post op and have not regretted any of it. I was at the NEW Humber River Hospital and all I can say is it is beautiful. Surgery was 1 hr 20 min. Discharged 24 hours later. I was a little nervous of that but the wonderful nurses were well versed on Bariatric Surgery and were a great help and provided lots of insight. Get your self a notebook to take as many notes during your appointments.
Now that you have met your surgeon, listen and follow instructions the Bariatric clinic sets out for you and you will be fine. When it comes to Opti time I ordered a couple of sugar free Torani syrups to flavour the opti so I wouldn't get bored of chocolate and vanilla all the time.
Make sure to take advantage of your 2 cups of vegetable allowed during opti, I sautéed mine with a little vegetable broth and made for a nice dinner.
Hi Kris
That I awesome news! I am currently a week and a half post-op RNY.
I was lucky enough to meet my surgeon face to face in Ottawa as I am only about a a away. I had Dr. Yelle. During my consult he basically went over the risks of the surgery as well as any possible complications that could arise. He also went over the perticulars of all the changes they are going to make in your body, ie: your new pouch, absorption rates post-op etc... I also had my Galle Bladder removed at the same time so he went over that procedure as well. He did a small assessment of my abdomen asked about any previous surgeries surgeries, we shook hands and that was it.
This was followed up with a pre-admission appointment where I met with a nurse, pharmacist and an anesthesiologist a week before surgery.
My time-line from meeting the surgeon to my actual surgery date was short. I met with Dr. Yelle on the 14th of October and got the call with my surgery date end of October. I started optifast on November 6th a had my surgery on November 27th.
As I said I am almost done done post-op now and have lost 49lbs since October 14th. I was very quick to recover. I spent two days in hospital instead of the standard 24hrs a a had a double procedure. After three days home from hospital I was able to walk 4 b a day since and moving around more and more. You will be surprised how quickly you recover!
I wish you the best of luck on your new journey and a happy beginning to a new you!
Josh
