Day 1 post op.

What an experience.  Dr Hagen is amazing along with all staff at Humber River.  On a personal side, gas pains are horrible.  They seem to be sticking to the left side.  I was discharged at 3 pm, only 1 night in hospital.  That was surprising, but I think I will get a better sleep.

The advice I received was walk, sip and root. Each day gets better.

Good luck. As of today I am officially 2 weeks post-op. The first few days I spent wondering "what have I done?". You may not go through that, but it was mainly me wondering why I did this "semi-elective" surgery and being unhappy with the pain. The pain wasn't terrible, but still, there was some pain. I was totally surprised (and slightly horrified) by the amount of gas I passed. Just know that's normal. :)

I went through that too.  Wondering if I made the right decision.. even though it was already too late to take it back, but now, three months post-op, I know I made the right decision and I'm sure you will feel the same way soon if you don't already.

I found the GasX strips were a lifesaver in those first few days.  The worst though, was the day 5 nausea.  Everything made me sick to my stomach.  Thank goodness for this board though, the vets said Gravol was the way to go.
