Just wondering if anyone has any last minute advise before the big day - surgery day!  If there is anything that I definitely should take to the hospital?  Should I be bringing my vitamins with me?

Thank you!

It looks like your surgery day is tomorrow - congrats and best wishes!

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about taking vitamins with you (or trying to gag them down so soon after surgery). You'll have enough to worry about just trying to walk, sip, and sleep.

Advice - I think my biggest thing would be to reassure you that although you may feel like you were hit by a Mack truck the first few days, it will pass and it WILL get better. Hang in there.

Do a search on this site "What to pack" -- lots of good tips. Earplugs can be bought at drug stores -- sponge disposable ones are cheap.

When they give you your prescriptions upon discharge, get them filled at your local pharmacy and not the hospital's pharmacy. There are repeats on some and you won't want to trek back to the hospital just to fill them. Good luck!

I agree however my pharmacy does not carry the drugs prescribed.  I called them before leaving hospital.

I was advised I have to bring vitamins with me for surgery, although I don't know why because it seems we don't start taking them until 3 days post op, by which time you should be home.  I assume they want us to have everything on hand for them to see and ensure we are set up for discharge when the time comes.  Good luck :)

Can you take a few days supply of vitamins in a ziploc baggie. It would be lighter then carrying the bottle(s).
