My review of the new HRRH hospital (Wilson site).
I was NPO because they told me my surgery would be the following day. They did this every day. I had surgeons, inpatients, nurses, the team leader, the manager.. each one told me "no for sure this time, you're at the top of the list and will have your surgery tomorrow".
Referral - Feb 25th, 2014. Info Session - April 7th

So sorry to hear what you are going through Seyenna. I really hope that they get everything straightened out and get you feeling better soon!
I thought I would add my experience this week to your review. I had my surgery at the new Humber Wilson site on Wednesday that just passed and I too saw a lot of technical difficulties and frustration in the nursing staff. While I tried to be patient and understand that they just opened and are still working out all of the kinks, I also found it very unprofessional that a couple of the nurses were very vocal about their displeasure while trying to work on things in front of me. It did not instill a lot of confidence in me when they were so quick to tell me that they hated the new systems and didn't know how to work things. I work in IT so I am used to hearing people complain about new technology but you should never voice your opinions in front of customers or the patients that you are in charge of caring for! I think the main thing that frustrated me though was the fact that they discharged me less than 24 hours after surgery even though I was complaining of bad pain and nausea....only to make me drive all the way back for a 2 minute follow up appointment the next day (where I waited in the Bariatric clinic waiting room for over two hours before Dr.Klein finally sent his Resident down to check on me and the other patient that was waiting). I only live an hour away from the hospital but that 3 hours of driving back and forth over two days and then sitting in a waiting room chair for two hours while I tried not to vomit or fall asleep was not fun at all! I was also surprised that the only pain medication they sent me home with was for extra strength over the counter liquid Tylenol (that the pharmacy there didn't even have in stock and told me to have my home pharmacy order some in - how would that help with the pain I was in now?!). Having had a few laparoscopic surgeries in the past, I had expected something a little stronger to get me through the first few days. I really feel that going from being given IV drip Morphine to plain old liquid Tylenol so quickly after surgery contributed greatly to my post-op discomfort over the past few days. Thankfully I am starting to feel better now.
Anyway, all in all the new hospital is very nice looking, clean and bright but they still have a lot of bugs to work out if they are going to get their patient care up to par in my opinion. I really hope that anyone going for their surgery there in the next little while is prepared to deal with the kinks and bugs that are still being ironed out. Try to have patience and focus on getting yourself better despite what may be going on around you there.
Bravo Seyenna and Tara for your account. We all can learn a little from your experiences. Not at all to be paranoid but to know when to speak up and what you could expect. All too often WLS patients tend to be accustomed to "blending into the woodwork" so to speak. It is very hard to keep your confidence levels high and to speak up when one is drugged up and only at the beginning of your journey to fix health and life span. What I can assure you both is that as the pounds melt away, so do your walls that you maybe hiding behind. If you are sent a form from the hospital asking for your comments, please make sure these experiences are documented. Had you not been ushered out so quickly, you might have had a chance to find out where the "comment" drop box was on your floor. Or if they even had one easily accessible. I do wish you both safe journeys from here on out. Perhaps future patients can make a point to tell the surgeon where they are traveling from and that it is unacceptable to recommend discharge in 24 hrs only to have to appear in a waiting room the next day.

Ok guys, you are scaring the crap out of me! lol. I go in for surgery on November 23rd. I sure hope things are a little better in 2 weeks but I have my doubts. As long as I'm not left in the elevator or sent home immediately following the surgery, i think I'll be ok. I hope I get to stay 2 nights though. I really don't want to be shuffled off in 24 hours. I definitely don't want to come back the next day for a 5 minute follow-up since I live in Barrie
I didn't mean to scare you, sorry. I just hope that you can take our experiences and go in on the 23rd knowing what might happen and being prepared for it mentally. There was really nothing that happened that would make me complain to the hospital or be scared for my own health and safety. They are a new hospital and there are going to be bugs to work out. They are still doing a great job of looking after their patients and I would trust them to do it again.
BTW - I live in Barrie too and that didn't seem to matter to Dr.Klein as to whether I went home or not. I walked into the operating room at 12:30pm on Wednesday and I was leaving to go home by 2:30 the next afternoon. Bring a pillow to hold on your stomach for the ride home and be prepared to feel more bumps on the 400 than you ever noticed before!
Try not to worry too much about everything. You are going to do great!
