Kudos on the Perrier.

I was doing great on the low carb until my DH came home with some party mix. There went my resolve. But today is a new day. My son and daughter are coming for dinner tonight. I will feed it to them to get it out of the house.

I can get all the details of the engagement tonight. Boy are you guys going to get tired of hearing about that. LOL

Biking home since I am not doing any other exercise. I am feeling the lack of swimming.

Good Morning all, Hi Barb and Pat. I too, try to keep my carbs low. I have been unable to really exercise since my surgery, so I think keeping carbs low is helping me to lose weight faster. I have my six month f/u this week, and I know, like many others, the dietitian will be telling my to up my carbs and probably calories too. I just know that would not work as well for me.

Pat, if my son were to get engaged I would be over the moon, and never stop talking about it!

B- gnc rtd shake, banana, I am going to try having my shake first thing in morning, because I have been saving it to have at bedtime, and I usually just don't want it then.

L- tuna salad made with little chopped red pepper, green onion, and 1 tbsp calorie wise miracle whip, cucumber slices for scooping, and a couple nsa pickles

D- 3oz pork, wedge of baked acorn squash with 1 tbsp ed smith nsa syrup

S- not sure

mfp totals without snack: calories 527, carbs 30, fat 18, protein 69.

bye for now

My hubby made a chicken and veggie stir fry last night and I had some for breakfast too! Who says you can't eat dinner for breakfast. Nice to switch it up from my traditional Greek yogurt and protein cereal that I eat every day!

Should you be eating almonds and popcorn at 4 weeks post op? I know I had surgery years ago but at 4 weeks post op I was on soft foods and neither of those two would be considered soft. Also at this stage of the game, popcorn has no nutritional value and you have limited pouch space so not the best choice to put in there.

Definitely not! I went through TWH and popcorn wasn't on the list until 3 months out. And I was able to eat a lot at that point, and warned me that popcorn still remained a trigger food for me, AND it was easy to eat. Too many carbs and no protein and just no nutrition at all.

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

I agree with the others ntensegirl. Maybe check your handbook to see if nuts and popcorn are allowed at this stage or call your centre.

I am just over 4.5 months post op and just recently introduced nuts. I haven't tried popcorn and don't think I will anytime soon, if at all. It is really important to fuel our bodies with protein first. There are many other food choices for you at this stage That are protein based.

MY BOOK HAS ME NOW AT REGULAR FOOD, I AM ALLOWED TO INTRODUCE NUTS AT THIS TIME, AND MY SKINNYPOP FOR 1CUP IS ONLY 3CARBS

All caps so you must be pissed at being questioned.

I think you have missed the point. You only have so much room in your new pouch so its best to fill it with protein and some veg. Also - popcorn is very difficult to digest. Protect your new pouch! You wont really know at this point as the nerves were cut and it will take a few months for you to get proper feeling in your GI tract.

Since you are already upset I will add more - too high calories for this stage. Are you sure you are measuring your food? Again - you will not have proper feeling in your pouch yet. Also - too early to add such high calorie/low volume foods like nuts. Its too easy to eat too many in one sitting.

Three weeks out - please be careful. If you aren't at this point then I see trouble down the road and you can either listen or argue. And yes, you will decide your own journey. We are just trying to give you some long term advice
