Hair loss and hair dryness
Hi Everyone,
I am 41/2 months post op and unfortunately I am in the process of losing a TON of hair. I am so happy with my progress so far from my surgery (down 88lbs ?)and I am trying to stay focused on the health benefits and not dwell on my hair loss. However, I am indeed a girl and it is a bit devastating to experience this. If you are post-op how long did this phase last (on average). I understand everyone is different. I'm only trying to brace myself for what could happen here ð??". Also, did anyone experience exsessive hair dryness and brittleness? I could swear last weekend my hair was full of life then two days ago I noticed it had changed.
Thank you for reading this and if you comment.... Thank you ?
I think about this issue every day!! I really feel for you because I know it's horrible and I pray that the hairgods will be gentle and with me. My daily loss still seems pretty normal, but I just passed the 3month mark. I've been using a spray in leave in conditioner to help with dryness.
From what I have read it seems the worst of things typically happens between month 4-9, but again....everyone is different. People seem to mostly agree you are defenseless against it. That it will happen if it's going happen, regardless what you try to do to stop it. I know that isn't the answer anyone wants to hear. They just keep saying...its temporary and will come back...or its a small price to pay...... ??????...........I still think it's a pretty rough situation to deal with and I sympathize 100%.
Hang in there.....

I'm not even at 3 months yet and my hair is jumping ship. Freaks me out. I've never been a vain person, but I love my hair! FAAAK. I'm babying it. Bought really good shampoo & conditioner that has no sulfates or parabens, leave in conditioner and take it easy with putting my hair up too tight. I keep reminding myself that it'll come back, but in the meantime - I may be investing in hats. :/

I haven't dealt with preop dryness yet. But, I had a serious dry/brittle issue due to some other medicine I was on. I tried everything, coconut oil, argon oil, Olive oil, Shea, biotin, tons of products... The only thing that worked was this http://www.sephora.com/caviar-repair-rx-instant-recovery-sha mpoo-P377405?skuId=1483684
It's not cheap, hut I use the shampoo and conditioner. Literally a huge improvement after the first use. I got a sample from sephora and that's how I got turned on to it. I have a sample left and can mail to you if you want. Just pm your address.

Kendra didn't work for me. I tried Phyto, which was better. The other Alterna shampoo doesn't work for me, only that one. Very weird. I guess we all have different biology.
Glad you found something!

Protein, protein, protein and iron!
Keep taking all your vitamins, drink lots of water to get everything through your system and get in your protein.
I lost hair until 15 months, luckily I have (had) a lot of it. Every once in a while, my hair will start to fall out again and it's usually because I'm low in iron.
Hope this helps.
Good luck in your journey!
I couldn't agree more with the previous poster. My hair used to be gorgeous and now, at 2 years post op, it's a complete disaster. Sooo thin, brittle, dry....I just want to shave my head!
My problem is iron though....I just had blood work done and the lab actually wrote on the results that they had to run my serum iron 3 times to get a number....which in the end was 0.055....it's almost non existent!
Definitely get in that protein and vitamins with iron!
