Please check in every once and a while so we know how you're doing Zizzler. You always have such great looking menus, I will miss reading them everyday.

Hi cc! I will still post just not every day as I have been for the past few years. And of course if I feel myself start to slip I will go back to the daily postings for a while. Just wanted everyone to know I am ok, nothing is wrong, just changing my routine a little.

Morning Zizzler

This is my last piece of advice and you can take it or leave it. You are coming up to the trouble time as you adjust to your new food life. You can eat more - it wont show on the scale much for a few more months and you will think its OK. Be careful!

First - get to goal! Do it now as it will never be this easy to get there. This will require a new commitment on your part. Your loss has really slowed and I believe you need to get the pedal to the metal again. Please dont be one of those who never get to goal and then begin to gain post 18 months or so. You have worked too hard to be a bad statistic.

Too much sugary tastes - even if sugar free - will make you crave more sweet. 4 fruit servings in one day - done repeatedly - also gives you the craving for sweet. We are not like normal people.

Change up to more dense protein. Most of your menu's lately have been slider foods. You will only feel full temporarily and will eat more. Vicious circle. Nuts are a slippery slope. We start with just a few and pretty soon the amounts grow. You have about 400 calories of nuts in your menu today. Taste great but did they satiate you for long?

"Protein" carbs - they are still carbs and create the taste and need for more of them. Watch products from the Low Carb Grocer etc. We can fool ourselves into thinking they are OK. They are trouble for most of us as we then graduate to regular bagels etc.

You have to decide if your goal is more important then the food you eat. When you get to goal you can experiment with different foods/fruits etc etc and enjoy them in moderation for the rest of your life.

This is a mental game! I have been there done that. I am giving you good adivce - I hope you take it and run to your goal.

Hello birdiegirl, thank you for taking the time to post this, I need a good reality check and I agree with everything you have said! I have been eating the protein bagels regularly. Interestingly enough, I ran out of them for a week and it was that week that I lost a pound, the only pound I have lost in the past month! What you say about fruit it sooo true, it is like a drug for me, I love it so much I go overboard, and that's what has been happening, especially on Friday. I sooo wanted to have a jumky treat but I convinced myself that eating fruit would be a good substitute. Well, guess what I was craving that evening - more fruit and also other junky stuff. I stayed on track that evening but it was very tempting to stop for something junky, and it was triggered by too much fruit! Nuts I agree are high in calories, but since I started eating more of them and some fruit I have had zero dizzy spells, so I think they are benefiting me in some way. I think what I need to do is lower my fruit and nuts to a maximum of one serving per day and only eat them if I start to feel dizzy. As for goal, I met my centre's weight goal for me 20 pounds ago but my personal goals are another story, I would love to get to 146 (normal bmi) and my dream weight is 140, right now I am at 160. Another thing that is not helping is that I only go to the gym a few times a week, although I do walk during my lunch every day I know that less exercise is effecting me as well. Thanks again for the important reminders, I can eat more now but I still decide how much I move, what and how much goes in my body!

Evening all. Long day for me on Fridays. School, then work till 9pm. OMG, i had the worst cramps at work tonight. Remember i've been having unexplained edema and weight gain, which really has me depressed so, i started to panic thinking i was having a dvt or something. It was so weird and i could not move my right leg for a while, then once that passed, the cramp moved to my left leg, not as severe but very uncomfortable. I remember Karen and Barb have had cramping issues. Is this the norm after RNY? Anyways onto my eats.

23 months post op

S - tea

Am so tired, going to work in the morning. Hope everyone has a good night, Nia

Sorry you are having cramps. Were they at the front of the leg near the shin or in the back at the calf?

They were at the back of my legs. The right one was the worst as it seemed like it was turning inwards. That's the most weird feeling i've ever had mind you, i've had a cramp or two before but not like this.

I have had bad legs cramps post op, very intense and painful. I never had them pre-op so I think it is related. Since you had knee surgery not too long ago maybe you should see your doc? I hope they go away for you soon. I was told drink lots of water as dehydration makes it worse, some say extra potassium might help.

Thanks CC. This is the first i've had them since surgery as well. I drink tons of water, so i know i'm not dehydrated. Maybe my potassium was off somehow and the funny thing is i just had a banana yesterday after a long time too. My body was craving it.

I have heard potassium, magnesium, and lots of water. Hope they go away for you. I find they seem to come in waves, I will have them frequently then not at all for a long time.
