New to the forum, some questions

I've been lurking on this site for the past 2 years, I think now I'm ready to start posting. My journey started last year in July/August when I asked my FD for the referral. My orientation class was in Nov 2014 and the waiting started( I know about 6-8 m I'm at St Joe,Hamilton). I give them a call after 6 m answer was you have to wait, 8 m past, still nothing. Today I called them, they even pick up, told me that I will get mail soon. Now I don't know if I should t be happy or worry, because I have gained weight since the referral.
I quit eating pasta, rice, pop, yogurt(now just plain or greek) but the ice cream, chips, bread, potatoes ....
Has anyone have an idea how they treat patients with the weight gain? Is there any one that have been in the similar situation?
I will try to lose some weight before any app, but not sure that will be enough.
Sorry for grammar or spelling mistakes english is my ESL.
I think they are experienced enough to know that people gain weight for a variety of reasons. I would start by journalling your food and light exercise if you can. that was you can show them that you are already on your way to the kinds of lifestyle changes that will lead to success. I gained 20 pounds in my year wait. They didn't hold it against me.
I wouldn't worry much about that. I was paranoid about every little thing, and when I got to the appts they didn't seem to really care about details. Weighing me seemed like kind of an after thought, Their only concern is that you meet the guidelines...and I assume that you are safely over 40BMI.
I have found there aren't a whole lot of people on this forum from St Joes Hamilton. I have a friend who had orientation Oct 2014= that was still waiting for her appts last time I spoke to her about 3wks ago. It took me 11mths from orientation to first appts....so hang in there!!!
If you ever have any questions you can always private message me.

I lost some weight after my referral and then gained some back. I'm heavier now than I was at my first hospital appointment/weigh in. I had my pre-admission appointment today (TWH in Toronto) and they said absolutely nothing about it. I gained less than 5 pounds, so it's not a monumental amount... but still, it's a gain. As one friend put it, I had a "food funeral." I had to say goodbye to my old friends for closure. One last donut, one last ice cream, one last...
I always use the disclaimer that I am not a medical professional, so this is just my opinion:
My doctor said that the surgery reduces the "food noise" or "head hunger" that persuade you to eat things you shouldn't (or quantities that you shouldn't). Not had the surgery yet, so I don't know. But, I'm hopeful.
A lot of people cut out simple carbs (bread, potatoes, pasta) completely after surgery. You can try reducing the amount now. If you really have to have ice cream, try the sugar-free kind. If you just want a frozen treat, you can make your own popsicles, buy sugar-free popsicles, or put a low-fat no sugar added Greek yogurt in the freezer for a quick frozen yogurt. At least that will have more protein than regular ice cream without all of the other bad things (heavy cream, eggs, etc).
And, I was (and am) totally paranoid about every step. After I went to the appointments I calmed down. I didn't know what to expect, worried I'd say something completely stupid and blow this. Luckily, being honest and just telling them everything worked.
You may find that you need counseling to get over some food issues. They should help you to assess this during your appointments. When you meet with the psychologist s/he will talk to you about these things.
Feel free to send me an IM any time. I had sooooooo many questions in the beginning and felt like I was driving everyone on the forum completely insane with my queries. Of course, the point of the forum is to support/answer questions. But if you ever have a "little" question and don't want to create a thread, I'd be happy to answer.

Thank you for all response, I feel a little bit better.I throw out all the ice cream from freezer, just put them in the sink and turn ho****er :).
Do you think it is possible to find popsilces now?( I will check WM today)
I think the worst part for me is that I don't eat breakfast, I just can't eat in the mornings, I've tried to go with protein shake in the morning, but the one I bought is really bad the taste is awful. Does anyone know a good protein?, the less taste the better, if it could taste like water that would be great. I know about GNC store, but I don't have good expirience with them, so If I don't have to give them my money I don't.
