What are you eating/doing today? (Tuesday)
I drink a lot of coffee, but almost always decaf coffee. Guelph does not limit decaf coffee, but does not approve of regular caffeinated coffee. According to Guelph, caffeine is an irritant to your new stoma and could cause ulcers. It is for this reason I drink decaf.

Hi there,
The general rule on caffeine these days at the various centres is to avoid it (though I have heard from several Humber patients that they were not advised of a "no caffeine" rule). When I had surgery at Humber nearly 10 years ago, there wasn't a no caffeine rule. I've been drinking fully leaded coffee/tea since surgery, no problems at all.

Thanks for you reply, I'm not sure if I or those around me would survive with being unleaded!
