Black stains on tongue...
The bad breathe and metal taste is ketosis, that's good. Suppose to happen, not sure about the spots

The mouth taste is normal and sometimes people get thrush when on Optifast. You may have an overgrowth in your mouth. I'd call the clinic before rushing to the hospital. Have seen others on the main board mention black spots and they went to the doc and told they were harmless but best to ask your own centre and see what they suggest.
First, I'd see if they come off with brushing (if so, it's something superficial). If not, then a clinic is a good idea.
I've never been on Opti (I start next week)... but I have had black spots on my tongue due to another medication I took. Of course, I found them right before I had to get on a plane for a work trip. So, I was torn--do I risk dying from black tongue death or board the plane? Luckily, I went in to the washroom and found I could get them off my tongue with a toothbrush + toothpaste. I later found that it was a potential side effect of the medication.
I Googled it and didn't see anything about black tongue, but a lot of things about fuzzy/coated tongue.
Good luc****ep us posted on what you find. I will definitely want to know if I develop black spots.

have you taken pepto bismol? that (usually the tablets) cause black stains in your mouth (not a lot of people know this, that is why I ask)
Why does Pepto-Bismol sometimes darken the tongue/stool and how long does it last?
Yes, it was Pepto (liquid). I was taking more than the recommended amount because I was just about to board a plane and also just about to hurl because it was my first business trip and I have generalized anxiety disorder (ie, I worry about pretty much everything). I wasn't worried about flying, I was worried about a flight delay that would cause me to miss the meeting I was headed to.
Luckily, all was resolved with a little brushing, internet search, and competent pilot.

Glad that is all it was.. and I figured.. never heard of a black tongue from anything other than Pepto..
Yep, I found out the hard way. Only after being totally convinced my tongue was rotting off... strange what goes through your head when a body part turns black.
