Healthy food delivery service in Toronto?
I live downtown Toronto but grew up in a farm area, so I am adjusting to not being able to go to local farms to get produce.
Obviously, I know that I can get produce from the grocery store, but I like to support local growers (there is something about my garlic coming from China that seems wrong). And, I like the variety that you can get from a farm (I once scored fresh wild black raspberries, which have been a favourite of mine since childhood).
I've tried Front Door Organics and am now giving Fresh City Farms a try. Just curious, does anyone have other similar delivery services they've tried and liked?

Are you near Kensington Market. Look on internet www.kensington-market.ca and see all the list of grocery vendors. Some vendors deliver in downtown core. Also if you are near Adelaide and John St you can visit Superfoods Eateries for raw vegan groceries, dried kale, non-dairy parfaits and fresh organic veggies. They dont deliver but their food is excellent healthy and organic.

Ooh, these are great options, thanks! I am near enough to give those places a try. I am vegetarian too (which I don't think you knew)... so good call on the vegan place. :) I find a lot of great little places in Kensington but just haven't explored it very much.

Where in the city are you? St Lawerence Market is fabulous and there are farmer's markets most weekends (although the season is running out).
i have used Mama Earth Organics and LOVE them, but cancelled them before I had the surgery.

St. Lawrence farmers' market is year round - Saturdays only. They have moved it to the south end of the market on The Esplanade in a big white temporary structure while the north market is being rebuilt. I bet Kennsington Market is cheaper - but don't know for certain.
Hey Tatirod -- you can come visit me if you are going to the St. Lawrence market since I live 2 buildings away!
Kensington is almost always cheaper but I like the experience of Saturday's at St Lawerence, and believe the quality to be better!

Thanks! I'll look in to Mama Earth.
And I do love St Lawrence market. It's just that the crowd tends to get to me and I never know which person I'm supposed to pay. I swear I stole strawberries once and paid the wrong vendor. :(

Reminiscing here...ooh, you sound like me. I am a farm girl, and yes, garlic should be easily found that is grown in Ontario...apples from South America, now, in the fall-- makes me crazy...I have never bought sweet corn from a store, my Dad grew it, after that I bought it from farmers. Good for you for trying to source local produce, even in the heart of Toronto. Good for you!
I was shocked that some of my friends don't even know what apple cider is. And I have to say, the stuff they sell as apple cider in the stores doesn't taste anything like the freshly pressed unpasteurized stuff from my childhood orchard. I went there recently and indulged (I'm pre-op, so I decided a little apple cider would be OK... I'm not sure about the sugar content for post-op). I do remember my first fall in Toronto, I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the apples were.
