Can anyone advise me where to get the best information for what to eat immediately after surgery.  My op is booked for next Tues at Humber with Dr. Hagan and I have no idea what food to get into the house so I'm thoroughly prepared.  All I have is the booklet they gave me at Humber at my initial info session and that doesn't provide much info.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.  Kim

There should be a nutrition package with that, if not you get one before you go home as well.

I stocked up on low fat, low sodium soups and broth.  I found the powdered ones good because i could only take in a little at a time so i didn't have to prepare a whole meal just for a few bites.

When you go shopping read the labels carefully. sometimes low fat soups have sky hi sodium!

Hi Kim, I'm 9 days post op Dr hagen(sweetheart!). I'm having Greek yogurt, applesauce for meds, (crushed). Fat free cottage cheese, steel cut oatmeal, Skim milk, I'm adding carnation Skim milk powder for more protein.  And low fat cream soups Good luck!!!

Hi Kim,

I just looked up HRRH and found this pdf:

It'll give you the answers you are looking for.

Just took a look at the pdf Catw gave you which spells it all out -- I am with the TWH programme which is a little different. I recommend that you pick up whatever you can the day or two before surgery. Don't get caught empty handed when you come home from the hospital.

I have prepped a lot of food and put it in the freezer so it's ready to go when I need it. Glad I did as I don't have to over analyze food prep for every meal. The work is done.

You might consider buying this book that has 150 recipes and was written by a Humber dietician http://www.amazon.ca/Complete-Weight-Loss-Surgery-Guide-Program/dp/0778802736 I find it very helpful.

Good luck on your upcoming surgery.
