I had my surgery feb 3, 2015, everything went well, i recovered well at first. And i don't want to scare anyone about to have surgery, i still think its the best decision i have made.  I am just interested if anyone has experience similar issues that I have. like is said surgery went well, recovered well, went back to work after 6 weeks and then i started having issues. Could not eat or drink with out throwing up.  The vomit was nothing but white foam, but i let it go too long. I went to TWH emerg and they did all kinds of  test, scopes, CT scans, nothing showed up.  They ended up doing exploratory  surgery  and found internal hernias and an obstructed bowel. They fixed that but was kept in hospital 2 weeks.  i was suffering intense nausea and they prescribed me zofran which i can't live without. Pain and nausea got worse and had to go back to the hospital for another  2 weeks.  This time they took out my gallbladder.  I am feeling better but the nausea has not stopped, still taken zofran daily.  Mind you  I have lost over 100pounds since feb 3rd.  I do not regret the surgery at all but just wondering if anyone has  the same issues, Its been exhausting and three surgeries so close together makes the healing difficult.  if anyone has suffered the same issues please let me know.

I am pre-op and do appreciate this. I think hearing these stories are important. If we don't know that symptom X could be a sign of condition Y, we'll never get the help we need in time (well, it's possible anyway).

I had my gall bladder out and had mystery vomit like you. It would just happen all of a sudden. I couldn't drink anything, even water. I vomited foam and then eventually bile. My doctor acted like I was insane and making up stories. I decided he was insane and went to the ER where I had emergency surgery because I had a huge gall stone obstructing the path to my liver.

Because it was "just a little vomit" it seemed like nothing to lose any sleep over. It's so important to be in tune with our bodies and actually listen to them.

I'm glad you are doing well now and recovering!

Juleeg,

So sorry to hear about all your health complications.  Although I have not had any complications from my bypass, I have had other health issues.  I also have had 2 surgeries since my bypass, and another one to be scheduled soon.  So many bumps in the road of our journey.  You have done amazing with your weight loss though!  And hopefully your nausea will ease up, or you find the reason why you are so nauseous all the time.  It is definitely exhausting, all the tests, scans, appointments, and so stressful.  I wish you luck and good health for the future.  I am trying to stay positive, and you need to, too.

Take care

Although I have not had any of the issues that you have, I have two friends that have had WLS and both have had issues.  One of them is still dealing with issues after a recent surgery to fix a problem.  My heart goes out to you.  This surgery is life saving, but it is not without it's risks.  I pray that you will have a smooth road from now on, and that your recovery is speedy.  Please keep us posted on your progress.  It is also important for newbies to know that even though complications can happen, that there is medical support.
