Humber River wait times
I have seen a few comments from people on wait times and wondered about those who had surgery at Number River or who like me are waiting for dates. At orientation in Aug they said we would hear from them 10-12 weeks with apts for assessment phase. while in the waiting room a woman said to us when they tell you the wait time triple it because I've been waiting 6 mos.
I know things are likely bogged down with the transfer to the new hospital and all but I wanted to get the real scoop. will this really take 1 year from orientation to a surgery date or is it going to be much much longer?

I went through HRRH too. I just had my surgery in March. You should expect about a year. I know it seems hard to wait but trust me I'm only 6 months out, use the time from orientation to surgery for research. You need to know what you're getting into because IMO the after care is TERRIBLE! You are pretty much on your own. You don't know if you're doing anything right and while they see you at your follow ups the info they provide isn't great.

I had my orientation October 23 2014 and my first appt to meet the surgeon was March 23! I had my trio appts on June 1 and met with the internist on August 24. It really depends on surgery time with who your surgeon is. Dr. Starr (which I have) seem to be the longest wait for surgery time. I was given a date of March 2016.

I had my orientation February 27th and my trio apt is finally coming up on September 25th. Unfortunately Dr Glazer is so backed up I won't get in to see him until December 1st. I likely won't have surgery until the new year. Definitely count on the one year wait at least. Sorry not the news you were wanting to hear I'm sure.
I'm also with Humber. I had my initial orientation info session in December 2014 and now have surgery date for Sept.29th. It took several months to get the trio appointments with the nurse, social worker and dietician. They then cancelled the nurse visit so I had to wait again for that. I wasn't prepared for the dietician, physically or knowledge wise, so she wouldn't pass me and I had to go back for a reassessment 6 weeks later, so that was another delay. Each person probably has a different experience with wait time, but that was mine. Good luck, going forward.
