Since surgery over 1 Year ago, I find I have brain fog and difficulty focusing.

Anyone else have this issue and suggestions on what it could be....  it is very frustrating!

Hi Kelly,

Have you had blood work done lately?  There are several things that can cause this that show up in blood work.  Iron, B12, thyroid are a few that affect me.  Even if your levels are "within normal range" I'd ask about increasing appropriate supplements and seeing if that helps.

Dehydration is an other thing to look at.  Also, are you on any prescriptions now?  If so, ask if they can cause this effect, you may need to either change prescriptions or dosage post surgery.

I'd also talk to your clinic about this, they would have more ideas than I do about possible causes, and can look into it further.

For me, it was not consuming enough carbs.  I increased my intake slightly and it made a difference.

Thk you both for your replies.  I do not take any other meds.  My last blood work was April and all was good, this has been going on for some time.

I will try increasing my carbs to see if it helps.

I appreciate the feedback as it helps give me some ideas to try before going to the doctor.

Carbs could indeed be the culprit.  You need some...make them healthy carbs (i.e. fruit).  That should help.

You've had this issue for over a year? Can I ask why on earth you would wait so long to address this?

It may have nothing at all to do with weight loss surgery, I'd be mentioning the symptoms to my family doctor.

Hi Karen,

I am always put of consulting doctors....I am bad for that.  In talking to a friend today, who turned 40 a few years ago she indicated she had the same issue and it was a hormonal imbalance.

I just hoped it was surgery related (like hair loss was) and it would get better.  Finally realised in the past month or so it may be time to look into it.

Thanks everyone for the feedback...it motivates me to consult me doctor.

I don't know how old you are (you look young to me!) but what your friend went through is real and it can really suck. Peri-menopause/menopause and the crazy hormones can affect so many things. I know it sucks to have to go to the doctor, but it's definitely worth mentioning, especially if it's happening enough that you're bothered by it.
