One month follow-up appointment at TWH
I don't think there was a question at all actually - she was simply retelling a story of something that happened at her appointment. Due to the conversations that have been going on here recently, I commented to clarify. Her story re-tell was timely in that there have been posts recently where a post-op was listing daily menus that included 4 bananas + more assorted fruit in a single day with very little protein at all, which I'm sorry, is nothing short of ridiculous.
Anyway. Anyone can throw up a web site and anyone can claim credentials, despite being a lie and illegal. I do know that registered dieticians do tote the food guide line. I would suspect that RD employed by hospitals have a certain protocol that they must also follow. I also know that every single WLS person I know, both here and in person, have been told by their dieticians to increase carbs, eat more carbs, try rice, etc. Without fail.

I was curious what went on at this appointment. Did you have to do any bloodwork before this appointment, or did they do some today? Was part of today a group class?
Glad you're doing well :) Feels pretty awesome doesn't it?

Sorry! Didn't mean to spark a debate. Just reiterating what was said. I agree that everything has to be a balance.
Helena, basically you will see the nurse, she will check your BP, check your incisions, look over a form you filled out about any issues you may be having. After this you will get weighed. They don't care about the number as long as the scale is going down.
Then you will go to a room and have a one month follow up nutrition class in a group setting. They mostly focus on vitamins, protein and food issues people may have.
Then the nurse comes back in and goes over basic information about when you should contact the doctor if you are having any issues.
And you are given a booklet with 7-8 blood work requisitions for future use so you can get blood work done prior to your follow up appointments.
It it was about 2.5 hours in total :)
