What does walk walk walk sip sip sip really mean?
I was very fortunate. I started walking about 36 hours after surgery on the hospital floor and 72 hours after surgery I spent about 5 hours at Woodbine playing the slots. Once I got home, I started walking for 30 mins and upped to an hour about 2 weeks after surgery and walked the remaining 4 weeks that I was off work. It'll get better, don't worry.
Oh yeah, like the others have said, get off the oxy or take them at night.

Good Morning;
I'll be 3 weeks Post OP this coming Wednesday. I've not been one for pain medication, so I cut everything except for children's tylenol when I got home day 3 after surgery (silly fear of dependency). On day 1 after my RNY at the OCH, I was walking around the halls on the floor, by the Monday after my surgery I went for a walk around the block, it's 1.5 KM's It was slow at first but now I'm up to 3 walks around the block a day (4.5 KM with a goal of getting back to the 8KM's I was doing daily before the surgery by the time I go back to work on September 8th...
Where I struggle is with the sip sip sip piece... I have a hard time getting 2 liters of water down as well as food and medications - My wifey is grinding me hard because she feels I'm dehydrated but I'm working on finding the right combination.
The other thing that bugs me is the random BM's - I go from one extreme to the other Plugged to running - but hey that's exercise right LOL
Your are going to do fine - try to get off the pain killers, once you are up and moving around more, your mind will realize how well it feels and you won't need them anymore
Bob.

what is important about walking and sipping is that walking.. short or far fast or slow, releases the gas they pump into you when you had surgery and prevents blood clots... sipping prevents constipation and keeps you hydrated.. to me, that is most important. it is SO EASY yo become painfully constipated the first few weeks.
