Hello all.

When I registered for weight loss surgery I also registered for optifast program.

I been debating back and forth on which program to do.

Had some great feedback privately but wondered what others think.

I have a friend who was right on the cusp of not qualifying for surgery and she did Opti for a year. She looks great and seems to be keeping it off. I haven't talked to her too directly about her experience with Opti but there are some YouTube WLS people who did 16 week Opti prior to surgery, such as one woman WatchPattiMelt. Check out her videos as she might have some info people here who've only done 1-6 weeks of Opti might not have.

Hi there: my two cents:) I did the 12 week Optifast program twice...about 5 years apart...for me..I lost considerable weight while doing the shakes and learned a lot about my self and my eating triggers, etc. I also never felt healthier or more energetic than when on the shakes---very positive experience for me. I attended all the classes and follow ups. The struggle for me came in keeping the weight off. I am a bit of an all or nothing person--that is why the shakes were great for me---and life after them not so much.:) feel free to message me for further info/details/questions.

Think I said something like this on someone else's post last week. The WLS programme takes a long time (13 months for me before surgery). No harm getting on the programme while you do Optifast. You can always step back from surgery, but you may as well get the ball rolling in that direction should you make a firm decision to proceed.

I did Optifast 2x (12 and 16 weeks). Lost weight but had some family tragedies that interfered with maintenance.
