Clothes sizing
As I have lost weight one of the frustrations is the size of clothes. Some people who say they weigh more than me also say they wear clothes smaller than me. So this article says it is just that the clothes today are all over the place with sizing.
A little standardization would be nice!
Agreed! I wear anything from a 10 to a 14 in pants. Tops I find aren't as big a difference.
I used to get so excited to find myself in such small sizes ( down to an 8 at one point). Now I realize its a lot of bunk. So I stick to a few manufacturers - especially of golf clothes.
Marilyn Monroe was a 14 in her day. Likely an 8 or 10 today
Agree wholeheartedly! So frustrating. I'm anywhere from a size 8 to 12 in pants (and I'm 5'10"), and usually a size 6 to 8 in tops (small to medium, on rare occasions large...if it's european, like italian/french). I'm often pulling multiple sizes of the same garment into the change room with me...and I hate those change rooms that have a limit as to how many pieces you can bring in at once. If I have to bring in a couple of sizes of each thing...well, there goes my limit! If they get snarky about it, then I bring one sample, and have the attendant run back and forth to get sizes for me...if that is their policy, then they will have to work for my business! Okay, rant over!! :)

Loss prevention. Pretty hard for employees to keep track of 20+ (or unknown number of) garments.

I am pretty consistently a 10-12 but I shop in a few main stores. I'm occasionally an 8 with dresses.
Size and weight are interesting though. In my experience, there is only a general correlation. You can be down in weight but not so much in size, and up in weight but not really in size. People can be similar height and have very different weights but be the same size. This isn't just a case of vanity sizing. I have lost 20 lbs and gone down a size. I have lost 2 lbs and gone down a size. Go figure.
