I still haven't had my surgery nor have I got a date yet.  I go to dietitian on Friday to hopefully get my "pass" so that I can call Dr. Hagan's office for a surgery date.  Wish me luck!  I just wondered, where do you all get your weight goal number from?  I have no idea how much I can hope to lose.  Who gives you the magic number to aim towards?  Thank you.

Some clinics will mention it, others won't.  They don't want you focused on a number, but focused on becoming healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  You can use the "average" BMI for your height, but I don't feel that it's always accurate.  The general one doesn't take into account of those with big bones or those who are really active.   If you pick a number, it doesn't mean it's written in stone.  You can always change it later.

My ultimate goal weight is the highest weight of a 'normal' BMI for my height, which is 155 lbs. I know BMI isn't an exact science, but it gives me a tangible goal to strive for.

The dietician asked me what my goal weight was. I said "I would like to comfortably take up ONE seat on the ttc, do a cartwheel, and buy clothes at almost any store. So, those are just some of the things I'm working towards.
