thanks Karen!
My surgery was June 12 th! I am excited to be using WAYE. I was keeping a daily food journal but the inspiration and ideas I have picked up on this thread has been incredibly valueable, so that I thought why not, maybe I should jump on board! Once I get the hang of this, I will figure out how to add a profile picture!!
Keeping a food journal and planning your daily menu is SO helpful - I've been doing this for 9 1/2 years, hasn't failed me yet. LOL
We're happy to have you join in!
Avatar - go to Settings (little head/shoulders person in the top right) and you can add it there. The pic will have to be 100x100 pixels - for that I use an online "picture shrinker" (lots of them out there).

Morning all and happy "thank gawd it's not Monday" :)
CC, sorry to hear about the insomnia. I know just how bad that can suck. I'm not entirely sure how to satisfy the craving for sweet fruit - it seems the only way that I have learned to manage cravings is to simply not have it in my house. Easier said than done when you live with someone and whatever you're craving is something they enjoy eating as well. I liked the suggestion of cucumber - so fresh tasting. Some cucumber and mint infused water in the fridge is a nice refresher.
Off to work for the day, have a couple of errands to run after (or maybe at lunch, we'll see), not much else on the agenda today. Hopefully an early night - I'm tired already and it's only Tuesday. lol

RNY 6 Years 4 Months post op
Morning
Busy place this morning..lol
The only reason I am sleeping thru the night right now is drug induced. I see my pcp for my annual in a few weeks and will ask for something to help me when I am on an insomnia roll. Its really difficult so I feel for you CC. Over the counter sleep aids make me feel terrible for hours in the morning - but I will take that over watching TV most of the night.
Fruit - its difficult because I know it tastes good. I likely have 2-4 servings of fruit per week and usually when I golf. The sugar gives me a boost while walking. I got my husband off too much fruit - he would eat bowl fulls - and his sugar stabilized and he lost weight. It has lots of nutrient but I choose to get most thru vitamins and thru veggies.
Banana's - I would eat one per day if they were around the house. I love 1/2 in a premier shake. However, I do not purchase them anymore as they are too easy to wolf down.
Hot weather treats - freeze some crystal light in popsicle forms. Freeze some Source yogurt - or as I do just a small container with some low fat topping feels decadent.
Remember too - what we have been told and read re 5 - 10 servings of fruit and veg per day is for normal anatomy's. We are different. We absorb ALL of the calories and only some of the nutrients, hence the vitamin supplementation. The thing is to just be careful as I believe most of us have a tendency to go overboard with food choices. I assure you I have to fight myself just about every day re what I consume. Worth the price though.
