Optifast is making me a prisoner in my own home.

Today I went out and got my first ever pedicure! I'm looking forward to pampering myself even more in the coming months. Here's my addiction transfer lol

Anyway, the point of this post is:

I had a shake at Noon. Promptly left to meet my friend for 1pm an hour later we're done the pedi and decide to go have a coffee. Chatted and drank coffee for about 2 hours. So it's 4 o'clock now, getting close to shake time. Say goodbye to friend, walk down the street to drug store, shop for 20 minutes, walk to subway all the while getting hungrier and hungrier. Tummy rumbling, feeling weak. Get home about 5:30 practically fall down starving. Make shake, devour. Alive.

If I'm out of the house for more than 4 hours I need to bring a kit to make a shake, it's like a ball and chain. I need ice so it has to be a cooler type bag. I walked past a grocery on the way home and thought if this was post surgery I could just walk in and grab a deli slice of turkey or a yogurt.

Not to mention with all this liquid and the fact that I'm already a big water drinker I'm in the bathroom on the hour. Sunday band practise in the park with friends and hubby is impossible.

Optifast is stealing my social life. I'm over it.

8 days left.

When I did optifast I froze water and carried a shaker with me that you make drinks with. I had a real cheap one from the liquor store.  When it was time for a shake I would use the water from the ice since it was real cold put it in the shaker, shake it up and drink it. Never had to be at home for it. As long as it was ice cold I was fine with it. Plus I had to keep working so i need to take it with me. I still carry frozen water with me and just add water to it so I have nice cold water to drink

Most coffee shops or fast food restaurants will give you a small cup of ice for free.

For sure you need to plan ahead and make sure you have your scheduled shake with you.  I found having some broth in the early afternoon really soothing as well, it was nice to have something that was not sweet for a change.  I too was in the bathroom all the time, it is normal!  My centre told us to take Metamucil capsules regularly, those also helped me feel like I was eating something, helped with the opti trots and clog, yes tmi I know.  Only 8 more days until your surgery, keep your eyes on the prize and you will get there.  Stay strong!

On one hand I am so glad to be done with Opti.... A year out there are days I miss it! I carried my magic bullet with me everywhere (there were times I used it by plugging it into my SUV and whipping up a shake with a cup of ice and decaf coffee from tims in the parking lot hahaha).  Hang in there -- the end is in sight!

I loved the optifast shakes - like you I carried my bullet with me to work, to meetings, even when traveling. We did a company event and I brought it to the restaurant and made my shakes there.

When you tell people why - even restaurants that stand to loose some $$ because your not eating their food, they are good with it. I never got refused and most of the time I got compliments for being so diligent - in those cases, they got a nice tip out of the deal ;)

Shake on!!

Visualize the person you want to be every chance you get - and you can become it!

I would try focusing on the positives instead of the negatives because you have a lot of hurtles coming up and you can't just be "over them".

lots of places will give you ice. I would make a small kit to take with you so you can do it more effortlessly while on the run.

Hi: I just completed my last "appt" today. The dietician told me to do a 7 day food journal, and email it to her next Thurs. This has delayed my whole process by 7 days. I know that does not sound like a lot but I am trying to get WLS by end of Sept. to be 6 weeks post op before my second total knee replacement surgery. Do you know if there is a cancellation list for the surgeons appt, much like the call ins looking for cancellations for the other appointments? I asked if I could pick my surgeon, as I was looking for one at TEGH (closer to home) but TWH said no - they have already sent the required number of referrals to the "surgical only" sites. This upsets me because that is quite a few bariatric surgeons out of the rotation (unless I want to wait until the new year). I need to be able to hurry my surgery along. I have been off work since May from knee surgery, and I want to get these other two surgeries done so I can return to work. Does anyone know how to speed the surgeons appt to the opti-fast - surgery date along quickly? I feel so close, yet still so far. Thanks for any comments.
