What Are You Eating/Doing Today? (Wednesday)
Hi all!
It's 3 am and I've been up for a bit, so I thought I would post. Hoping it's my Ironman nerves and not my iron keeping me up! My last reading ( after 18 infusions and one year post-IUD) was amazing with ferritin being 143 (it's been as low as 2). I take FeraMax religiously, but you never know!
This is my last heavy-ish exercise week before taper (easing off on exercise to allow for repair and recovery to race on fresh legs). I get very emotional thinking about crossing the finish line after training so long. This past weekend I rode my bike from my house (Port Union and Lawrence in East Scarborough) up to Durham region and then to Peterbrorough where I grew up. 183 km total. Visited my dad's grave and then rode to my childhood home. I got off my bike, into my mom's arms, who had tears in her eyes, as she had been waiting for me to show up. "you did it. I knew you would. I'm so proud of you." Well then we were both blubbering lol.
with that said, I actually have a planned menu to share!!
B: protein coffee (just got back into these! I was sick of them for a bit) and 1/2 English muffin and peanut butter
s: 1/2 pack try of Last Rep Beef Jerkey (it's expensive, from Beretta Farms and I love it. Whole thing is 80 calories and 15 grams of protein )
L: chicken and quinoa salad
S: rest of beef Jerkey and iced coffee at some point
d: spaghetti squash and meat sauce yummmm
Exercise is 4km open water swim with my triathlon group. Walk at lunch
hope all is well. I've been reading here and there and will be back on more regularly in the fall :)
Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
Well look at you up early and stuff! Great to see you posting, Kelly. XO
I have an exceptionally busy day planned at work with a meeting with expected attendance up around 300 or so. I'm hoping that any protests will be peaceful in nature. Gotta roll with it nonetheless. ;) I'm really excited for after work activities as I'll be attending the Para Pan Am Games in the VIP box at the MIS to watch Wheelchair Rugby matches with the Members and Councillors on our AAC. I've invited my 82 year old dad as my guest and I couldn't be more thrilled that we're going together. GO CANADA! WOO!
Eats are going to be tricky today due to activities:
9 years post-op
- coffee with cream x 4 over the day -
B - GNC Total Lean (banana)
S - before meeting - muffin-tin crustless quiche, 2 rice crackers with Swiss cheese
L - not sure what time I'll get to eat this but am bringing ham/cheese/pickle roll-ups (3) with deli mustard for dipping, muffin-tin crustless quiche (1)
S - may or may not have Source Greek with a few grapes, dependant on time
D - very limited dinner menu selection! I'll make do with the burger they bring me lol
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
K. :)

Good morning everyone!
Off to work for a busy day, and then meeting a friend for an art class tonight. Should be fun.
I went to GNC last night for some shakes and caved and got a membership. Besides the shakes, anyone have any favourites from there? I was given a protein powder sample, so I'll report back.

B GNC total lean chocolate shake
S Decaf coffee with soy milk
L leftover meatloaf with gravy
D something on the go, I am thinking tuna salad

I like the quest bars, they carry those, but have not really tried much else. I bought their protein powder once and liked it but it is not cheap. I find their vitamins more expensive so I buy those at Costco or when there is a good sale on elsewhere. Let us know if you find anything else worth buying.
Good morning everyone. Feels like I'm starting a cold, been sneezing all morning, hope not. Kelly congratulations on your long bike, that is amazing! Karen I hope they behave for you! Pat, your energy is amazing with work and volunteering, not sure how you do it.
Did you guys continue to lose weight after 1 year? I know everyone is different but I'm curious to hear your experiences.
