Questions for the Pro's... How Long After Surgery??
Well it's hard to call it a cottage... Central air, Internet and sat. TV... But it is a bit away from the nearest hospital.. Maybe we will save it until I'm sure all is well... Thanks!!

Well, the outhouse sort of provides some privacy.
Unless you count the leering eyes of the spiders and the raccoon and bear line-up forming outside. LOL

I'm under the knife tomorrow too! Pretending that my 5:30 am cab ride is to the airport for a holiday at a luxury resort. Hmm, not on pain killers yet and I'm already hallucinating!
I put our family cottage is semi-shut down yesterday. Worst case scenario - all perishables are out, and I have people who take care of my dock, boat storage & plumbing every year regardless. Best case scenario - back in 10 days after post op check up (assume they do one after a week). If I get a green light from powers that be, I may head back up.
It isn't the 2.5 hr drive, it's all the prepping, packing, & unpacking that makes it a marathon. Between dogs, CPAP machines & laptops & briefcases, I don't travel light. Fortunately I have road access - but the nearest hospital is 30 km away and I wouldn't want to disrupt a neighbour to make that return trip. Minden Hosp would likely ship me back to Toronto and then I'd have to get my car and dogs towed!
Not sure where Karen M's cottage is, but soap and shampoo has been a "no no" in our lake for decades. Luckily I have full indoor bath facilities... although the lights flicker when you flush! As long as I can be back early Sept -- my favourite time to go for boat rides on calm waters!
Tonight I will give an Optifast toast to your good health!
HI There;
It's sure coming fast - I like the thinking about it as a resort idea! I hear you about the cottage. I forgot about the whole bringing in the Dock's and the boat thing - but that's going to have to be for the kids to take care of this year I guess.. Paybacks are a B*tch LOL
I had my last OptiFast at 7:00pm so I didn't get to do a cheers back to you, so I had to settle for a water one a few minutes ago! I got a call from the hospital at 8:00pm to tell me that my surgery time has been changed to 2:30 and not to be there till 11 - man that's going to be a LOOOONG morning waiting...
Best of luck tomorrow - I know you are going to do awesome - I can't wait to share updates!
Bob

Hey Bob! All the best to you tomorrow, you will do great! Let us know how things went once you feel up to it. 8k probably not until at least a month out but check with your surgeon. Cottage I would not do that for the first while just in case. But why not ask Dr. Neville or your rnp, maybe we are wrong. Take care, so exicit es for you!
Hi Bob,
Best of luck tomorrow! I can only echo what others have said here too, discretion is the better part of valour, stay close to medical help just in case you need it. I'm two months from my surgery today and feel great! I too wanted to push my walking regime after surgery and my doctor reminded me that no matter how good you feel, remember that you just had major abdominal surgery and you need time to heal your incisions inside and out. Follow your surgeons directions. Soon you'll be able to go to the cottage or any where else you want. As someone reminded me, this is a marathon not a sprint!
