HRRH timelines?
Hi everyone,
After reading this forum for over a year, I finally decided to sign up because I finally have an orientation date. It took a year and several calls from my doctor's office, but yes I'm finally in the process! (we think they 'lost' my file during their switch from faxing to online referrals... anyway....)
I'm 5 feet tall and 220 pounds. my BMI is 43 and I have mild sleep apnea but no other co-morbities, luckily! I should be about 100-105 pounds, but I'm putting down 110 as my goal so I'm not too disappointed if I don't get there. I live daily with body aches, pains, snappy ankles, knees and hips. one of my knees dislocates itself on a regular basis even while lying in bed. I wear a size 18. I'm so sick of being so fat. the only shoes I can comfortably wear are flip flops. I'm so ready for a change! I have made major changes to my diet, (organic, natural, uncomplicated, nothing processed, avoid nutrient deficient foods, take supplements, lots of water and try to do my walking every day.) I'm not perfect but these are pretty substantial changes here, and hopefully the team recognizes that effort and approves me.
I have heard that some people get through in as little as 6 months whereas some it takes more than a year. Also that HRRH is building the new hospital so things might be slower. I'm sounding impatient yes because I waited a few years before getting the referral done and its a been a year on top of that. I'm kind of done waiting, haha!
any advice on how I may speed things along? someone said to call them often and also get on a cancellation list. does that really work?
by the way, my husband is all worried that I will leave him when I lose all the weight. he is trying to be supportive and asking the right questions, but I wish he'd just understand this choice. he's got a small belly but he's never been morbidly obese like me. I think this has to do more with his own insecurity than this being a real worry. he's coming with me to orientation, so I think that's a good sign. we will see!
thank you so much to all of you sharing your stories. I hope to give back to this forum one day!

it's estimated that I wont even get a call to start appointments until January :( this, after already waiting a year just for orientation because they lost my referral and it had to be resubmitted!!
