Optifast 900 preop emotions

Hey There;

I'm on day 12 of Opti (my surgery is in Ottawa on Wednesday). the first 4 or 5 days are the hardest (I did 12 weeks in 2011). You have to keep your eye on the goal... In the first 12 days i've gone from 193 to 172.0 so the Opti is a real motivator. That being said, I get the emotional thing, last night I cried reading somebody's success story on this site (maybe that's not a bad thing because they did so well), I think that the emotional piece may be part of the process when you are preop.

When I do my Opti, I roll through different additives (decaf coffee and Cinnamon, and crystal-light flavors as they make it taste much better) and I blend it with ice so that it crunches when I drink it, which helps make you feel like you are consuming something more than the liquid.

ON a more fun note, I've spent that last week teasing my family calling them "chewers" when they eat their meals - the good news is they eat dinner before I get home now which works perfectly for me :) To avoid what I call "brain" hunger, I learned to do the shakes at 7 / 11/ 3 / 7. the times disrupt your cycles so your not thinking at 12 or 5 that it's supper, I need to eat.

Your doing great!

Bob...Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. That's great that you have dropped some pounds before surgery.

I have just woken up, but already feel more in control today and the hunger seems to have subsided a bit.

I found these great stevia flavouring... They are organic 0 calorie drops I got from a local health store. Using those has definitely made the opti more palatable.

Best of luck to you on Wednesday and throughout your journey.
